Your flex concerns regarding your tester stick are probably correct. Any stick that is oval or partially so in a flex area will probably feel stiffer than a boxy stick. The one time I ever gave oval a shot was with the Christian Duralites and while they were OK, they sure as hell felt strange in flex. The two hardest shooting sticks I have ever come across are xn10 and novius. If anyone ever churned out a stick using the xn10 materials/taper combined with the asymmetric flex and managed to keep torque down it would be ridiculously great.

I spent some time leaning on it here at the house after my game last night. Because the oval shaped area doesn't seem to flex at all, it seems that the only area that flexes is higher up the shaft than what I normally use.

Yeah, that stick just sounds like it is the wrong spec for you.

Well, I'm 230lbs and I couldn't make the oval section bend by standing on it. That's not just an incorrect flex. For what it's worth I don't forsee anyone having a durability problem with that part of the stick.

Who knows, maybe it was just their attempt to create the effect of that rbk o stick w/o making the thing bottom heavy like that one is.

So the purpose is to *raise* the kickpoint? Huh.

Sounds like it, just like the One 90 compared to the XXX lite/XXXX.

It's all marketing

I finally got to test mine out on the ice, and I am very satisfied with the stick. Shots feel good, passes feel good, the puck leaves the blade quickly, and the puck goes where I want it to. The greatest improvement is in the realm of one timing the puck though, as every time I one timed the puck it went exactly where I wanted it to go with great speed. After being disappointed with the Synergy Elite, I am very glad I got the S17.

Well, I took the S17 on ice this morning for a longer trial (Peewee team I coach was on at 6, so i got on ice at 5:40 by myself, with the S17 and 90-100 pucks)

Still very unsatisfied. Way too much flex and way too light. Yeah, too light for me. Maybe someone out there is right for this stick, but it is not me.

-edit- there was never anything here...

You could also just make a bunch of posts.

You know, i first considered something like that, but then, that's kind of ridiculous, to post basically no info on a thread, just to get a post count up.

Then I thought it would be funny if I posted a sentence like "I would not do that", but make each single word a post.

Either way, it is a really fast way to raise the ire of the mods who put in a lot of effort and time to make this board as reputable and valid as possible, so I decided to remove a silly request and just continue my normal existence as a member of this board.

Back to S17... actually, onto all composites... is 420g the limit we'll see for a while on weight? I mean, Easton Aluminums were a big departure from wood. Comp's are a huge departure from both of those... Where's the ceiling? What will my kids play with? That was noehere near on topic, but now I'm rambling

420 grams isn't the lightest stick ever, the original Stealth was 395 grams. However, at this point, I think decreasing a stick's weight is pointless. I'd rather have a stick that feels good than one that weights 20 grams less than the competitors' sticks.

Jptwofive: I don't think sticks will move under the 390-95point.

If the stick is way too light it'll lack power on shots. You need something to pack a punch.

Release, shotpower, accuracy, grip/shape-variations, kick and durability are gonna be the main focus points from now on.

Durability should be King, it would be the single biggest improvement to our sticks, but it would hurt the manufactors at the same time.... So alas it will never be perfected too much.

You can't get light, durable, high performance and a reasonable price in one stick. People buy weight*, they may complain about durability, price or lack of performance but they will always buy the lighter stick damn near every time.

*Yes, I know some people say light sticks don't feel right but you're in the minority.

It should not be about overall weight. Some guys read about a stick being the lightest on the market and go buy it because of this. If you make a stick well balanced, it will not matter about the weight. A well balanced 500g stick will feel lighter than a poorly balanced 400g stick.

Light and "well balanced" are contradictions.

It's a simple equation that relates to mass.

There's mass in the blade. Furthermore, who decides where the perfect balance point is?

If I promise you a stick that is "light as air" you're gonna' get NOTHING!

NO stick... NO blade! NOTHING!!!!

That's a "perfect" balance.

I got slashed by a 2 hand axe murderer today at about the fuse point of the S17 and the guy broke is One90 and mine doesnt have damage except a little clear coat chip.I looked at the carbon and nothing broken.

So durability is good for now.

Well to those wondering about whether you can get involved in the toy drive from countries outside of North America I just had some toys sent to them using Amazon and will just have to wait and see how well it goes down with Hky Guru. I'll give an update onhere when I find out whats going to happen so others can know whether its possible or not.
