Luongo being biggest dissapointment so far?

Recommended Posts

as the topic states

i believe the biggest dissapointment so far for the canucks is Roberto Luongo

for a goalie making $6 mil/year, i personally expect more from him.

compared to last year's performance, his performance now is ridiculous

that's my two cents...

what do you guys think?

The team is terrible in front of him. It's hard for him to be a disappointment when he's still the best player every night.

that is true too

maybe if the guys infrot of him can produce some goals he wouldn't look so bad

like last night against carolina...what the crap was that?! 3 penalties in the first 10 minutes of the first

can't produce many goals if you're short handed

it doesn't help when it's a defensive minded team and noones playing defense. Look at game 1 from Dallas Vancouver last year...hell look at the whole series I think most of the games went to OT. As soon as they start playing D again they'll be fine. Until then, there shit.

i'm a season's ticket holder, and have waited 5+ years to become one

so far i'm not happy with their performance what so ever

we need better d-man hans down. but also top players need to perform as well

Marty in NJ has been a bigger disapointment

I'll second that. I think he just doesn't have the desire anymore. I guess he's pretty much accomplished everything there is really.

I was at the Vancouver/Kings game on Friday night, which Vancouver lost. Of the three goals that were scored against Luongo, I don't think any were really his fault. One was a perfectly played two on one, one was a cross-crease one timer, and the other one was a rebound where his defenseman didn't even try to clear the puck out. From the post game interview you could tell he didn't think they were necessarily his fault, either.

Are you kidding me? If we had Cloutier in net, we'd get blown out every damn game this season. And not having a shot on goal in an entire period is definitely not going to get you on the scoreboard. It doesn't matter how much he is getting paid. If you are the only one playing on a team of pylons who let shots through, put you on the PK more often than not and can't get the damn puck to the other net, you'd fair much worst than Luongo. Take a look at his play in Florida. Just like then, he is the only one that is keeping these bums in the game most nights. Talk about disappointment, let's start with Willie Mitchell, Kevin Bieksa, and Aaron Miller.....

Oddly enough, Naslund, Morrison, Kesler and Krajicek are surprising on the upside, Sedins and Bieksa aren't pulling their weight as much.

As someone who took Brodeur in a fantasy draft, I'm pretty disappointed! I actually just picked up Weekes, who's actually got better numbers. And of course, having Josh Harding and Martin Gerber doesn't hurt.

But biggest "L" award goes to Manny Fernandez...4 starts, 2-2-0, 3.94 GAA, .832 save, and that includes a shutout!

The season is only 10% done, and fans are already jumping off the bandwagons (e.g. mew1838 about the Sharks, this Luongo thread). Coaching will adjust team play; the regular season is partially about practicing the teams' systems for the playoffs.

No, he hasn't been the biggest disappointment.

The biggest disappointment has been the way the team is playing in front of him with the exception of a few. Bieksa, Mitchell, Ohlund and Miller aren't doing so great while Weaver and Krajicek are probably the two best on the back end right now.

8 or 9 games into the season and people are already asking questions like this? Last year it was "Should've kept Bertuzzi" and this year it's "Make Sanford starter".

Dumb. Wait until after Christmas.

i never said i jumped off the bandwagon

yes i said luongo was the biggest dissapointment....but come to think of it...defense and lack of disapline has played a huge part

nucks are the most penalized team in the league right now i believe...how are we suppose to score when we're short handed for like half the game?

we'll see what happens

hopefully they can pull through and start winning some gamess

Well, just my 2 cents, if terrible sharks(the one before the last 2 games) could beat them 2X already this season, they can't be too good. And also, among all the teams I have watched against the sharks, nucks have the least sting. Detroit has the most....

luongo is used to playing behind shitty teams! he'll be fine. i hope the canucks miss the playoffs.

the need to

get rid of naslund

get some better dmen.

get a decent backup for luongo.

i dont think they need a decent backup, as he'll only be playing half a dozen games, max, anyways. i think naslund could use a change of scenery to rejuvinate his career

The Canucks don't need to get better D-men, they need their D-men to play better. On paper, they are amongst the best group of D-men in the league as fas as depth. They need to play like what they are on paper. We can get Pronger, but if he plays with the same crappy intensity as Mitchell and Bieksa are right now, it doesn't matter.

Again, it's not Luongo's fault that they suck, and how does getting him a better backup going to make him play better? Sanford beat the Canucks multiple times last year when he was with STL. He is fine.

Luongo is a slow starter, he did pretty much the same thing last year. The Canucks were under 500 until December when he started playing great.

Last night against the Wings was far from Luongo's fault. He played pretty damn good considering he to 40 shots and only let 4 in. He was the only thing keeping Vancouver in the game.

Naslund has been one of their worst players by far. No heart, no work ethics. Everytime I tune into the game, he trips someone or take his hand off his stick and gets a holding penalty. He does need a change of scenary.
