Bergeron out

Recommended Posts

i would like to see the stats, but i am willing to bet that these kind of checks cause the most injuries. blaming the guy that gets hurt only goes so far. in the old west you did not shoot a guy in the back. if our game is supposed to be played with honor- don't hit a guy in the back!

You made me laugh.

I think both guys need to take responsibility of this incident. Bergeron needs to understand that stopping a foot or two before the boards is kinda asking for it. I was warned from my team mates about this behaviour at the start of the year along with another bloke. I changed my ways and stopping standing a foot to a meter off the boards but my team mate didn't. As a result he was knocked out the last game of the season in a similar incident.

I do agree also, that Jones shouldn't have made the hit, unfortunately the hit was made and close to high speed. As a commentator says on one YouTube variant of the video "He had already committed himself to the hit by the time Bergeron was at a complete stop". There was no intent to injure from my view looking at the hit in real time or slow motion.

Afterall the dust has cleared but the NHL needs to say to Jones "Sorry mate, you weren't trying to hurt him but that's happend never the less and we need to suspend you." If it was upto me, 3-4 games suspension.

should i laugh when it happens to you? your perspective will change when you get hit like that. while there is a limit to genius..... there is no limit to stupidity. hits like Jonesys' are far too common and it amazes me that more guys dont get hurt on stupid plays like that. and people in this industry wonder why hockey enrollment is down..... not many parents are willing to put their kid in hockey when all they see is crap like this. everybody talks tough about things like " admiring his pass " and " not protecting yourself " until it happens to them. it is sad when we have to resort to dirty play rather than highlight the talent. without the puck- do you have a game? maybe we should just have a battle royale on skates instead?

You should think before you post. As a matter of fact, I have been hit like that. I've broken my clavicle, and had a concussion from that type of hit. But looking back on it, I turned my back to protect the puck, and to add to it, I was a foot from the boards. So as much as it was his fault for hitting me, I put myself in harms way, and I own up to it. When a hit like that is coming, you react, and half the time, it's either the right way, or the wrong way.

I don't think Jones had the intent to injure here. Patrice didn't have the right positioning to take that kind of hit as well. They're both at fault, and they both should take responsibility for what happened. As for the suspension...well, the NHL had to do something, so they did.

As for hockey enrollment, that's part of it, I'll give you that. But also add in the fact that not every parent is Bill Gates.

How many times have you not seen a forward get hit on the forecheck when he's first to the puck?

In that situation he shouldn't have hit him, he should have slowed down and pinned him against the boards.

good article...... bring back respect and get rid of stupidity. Jones did not have to finish him off. a good bump would have had the desired effect.

Bruins won 6-3 and once again a Flyer throws a dirty hit, this time on Andrew Alberts. Hartnell was suspended 2 games. That's 4 Flyers players suspended in just 24 games.

has anyone heard anything about Bergeron's status?

The B's are working under the assumption that he is gone for the season. The last I heard about his condition is that he is still suffering symptoms to the point where he can't even do light exercise.

I heard he is walking and talking better, but still can't exercise. he was in attendance at the columbus game, though.

One of his teammates was saying that he has trouble watching tv for more than 10-15 minutes at at time without getting headaches/vertigo or something. I dont' recall the teammate. The interview was on ESPN somewhere, I think. I don't recall.

It was Brad Boyes, former teammate. I read that interview, I believe it said he is at the point where he CAN watch a full game now...or maybe it was a different interview but I'm pretty sure we are talking about the same one.
