07/08 NHL gear sightings

I saw the game and saw him holding the stick with the yellow stripe down the back - when Lupul scored the first goal. Later on in the game I did a double-take because he was using U+.

I saw him with the U+, looked like it still had the slot at the bottom.

I do believe you were right, it was definitely being uses situationally or "on and off" though. I'd see it maybe once or twice a game max. Havent seen any pics.

At first I thought it was a one90 until they zoomed in on him behind the net in game 2 I believe, while they were setting up an attack. It was CLEARLY a retail graphic-ed one95(or at least the graphics package).

If anyone has game 2 recorded, the flyers were going left to right and there was one guy behind the net, he had the one95 stick.

^^ Players usually black them out to avoid being distracted by the design on the stick or just out of personal habit. I didnt notice kennedy's visor removal, but if i were him i would keep it on as a pitiful attempt to hide that nose. And do those last two pics have any point or u forgot to caption them or maybe it they were just for fun

It is also easier to see a black stick with your periferal vision than a light colored stick

it also looks cooler too and so many players do it.

lol... thats definately the reason

I'm sure it's not the only reason, but I've asked a few players why they do it and some of them have no idea. "It just looks cool." was their response.

I'm sure other players do it for reasons more closely associated with performance too, but there are many players who paint their stick purely because they like how it looks.

It's the same as guys who wear their tongues out. Some do it because it feels more comfortable to them. Other do it because their favorite player did it way back when.

I was using a RBK shaft which was white and blue and I was using black tape on the blade. I was quite happy using this, then I got a TPS R6 which was blue fading to black 3/4 of the way down the shaft. For some reason I really liked this alot more than the RBK. Bottom of the stick and the blade being very dark with the black tape on the blade. It's just personal preference really.

I thought Hossa was with Mission, what's with the warrior gloves?

He is a "Mission guy", but he's been in Vapor XXXX's, and wearing the Warrior/re-branded MIA's for a while.

Kovalchuk's also looks unused, so it might just be a CCM sample sent in his pattern that got rejected. It does look like his pattern, so does the Ovechkin look like it should be his.

Kovalchuk on the left, Ovechkin on the right.

Are you sure you dont have that reversed? Kovy never used a 10.0.

Just because he hasn't used the stick, doesn't mean he's wrong. Look at teh curves and you can see he doesn't have them reversed. Those are the curves those guys use.
