I bet the Canes wont be two happy about that. I'd have a feeling that if that does occur the ruling about an OTL receiving 1 point will be looked at and discussed. Wonder if it'd be changed?

CAPS WIN!!!! 3-1 and take the division and playoff spot :D well done to everyone involved in bringing this about. I managed to watch the game in the end and the atmosphere looked and sounded so different to how it was last year when I went to Washington to see them play New Jersey and that must have given them all a boost. Bring on the play offs!

Ovie wins the Hart, Lester B. Pearson, Rocket, and Art Ross. And is the first to take their team from 14th or 15th after the all star break into the playoffs. This is a year to remember.

What a game! Watching Ovechkin jump on Semin after scoring the third goal was absolutely priceless. I really love to watch this team play. I hope they go deep in the playoffs.

Haha. Thought this was cool. Just saw this on a bulletin by one of my favorite metal bands - Darkest Hour. They are from DC and they just released a Caps fight song in honor of them making it in the playoffs (the tune is actually from one of their albums just some new "Go caps!" lyrics).

Caps are without a doubt the most exciting team heading into the playoffs.

I have a feeling though that Piittsburgh will be the east team that goes to the stanley cup final. Their lineup just looks scary on paper.

That was a pretty exciting run to get into the playoffs. not only that, but get their division!

If they keep up the momentum, theyre gonna be a handful for any team.

Whoever they play should be a real good series. There is a lot of youth on this team which could help them or hinder but that's why they play the games.

Impressive run to get to the playoffs. I still say that they're too green, especially on the blueline, to make much noise this year. I think they'll get a taste and be a team to watch out for next year.

Okay, so they didn't run away with it, so I can't say I called it exactly, but I'll take it. It might be the closest I've ever come to predicting something.

I have to agree with chippa13 that the Capitals are too green to have a big impact in the playoffs this year. The question mark is Ovechkin. Has he maxed out his abilities? If he has another gear they could win a round or 2.

Ovechkin always maxes out his abilities, so don't count on anything "extra from him".

Washington's two biggest jokers are Federov and Kozlov, if they decide to suddenly give it 110% this team could go as far as the eastern conference final.

If you look at the caps/canes game last week (perhaps it was the lightning game), you see early on, fedorov draws a penalty while the caps are on the PP. He immediately passes the puck to the canes to max the time on the 5-3 PP.

Later in the game, same thing happens with semin, who immediately passes the puck to the canes to max the time on the 5-3 PP.

Little things like the the younger caps are learning from Fedorov. You could argue they should know them already, however, semin has tried defensively since Feds came in, something I never thought I would see (he isn't always successful, but he tries).
