A bit off topic, but does the rockered shape of the blade have an effect on stickhandling? Also it seems that players who are good stickhandlers usually use long skinny blades, i.e. Kovalev, Kane...

rockered blades are easier to stick handle with, since no matter how far the puck is from your body you can get the blade on it. i always liked the way you can drag the puck in tight and shoot from your feet more. you can stick handle on the heel, mid , or toe and have the same amount of blade on the puck. flat bottomed curves, especially with a flat toe will shot a bit better, give the puck a more accurate tighter spin on shots, but it has be flat on the ice to be truly effective, making proper lie critical (its pretty important regardless). it isnt a rule, but a lot of stick handlers prefer rockered/ round toes, and a lot of shooters prefer flat bottoms.

Does Kane do anything specific with his tape-job, or does he simply rub the puck along the blade to get that look?

He looks more like a kid than a nhl player, but great skills and fun to watch.

I think Kane uses a Shanahan/P10

Are Shanahan and P10 the same thing? Have I seriously been such a dummy for this long and not realized that? I've been scouring stores and the internet (aka half-assed looking sometimes when I think of it) for sticks in P10, and I could have also been looking for Shanahan?!

Well cosidering you can order the p10 though Nike's ID program, that' would be the easiest way to go these day's.

Ordering a TPS with a P14 curve is pretty easy too and usually a lot cheaper. You just need to locate a shop who will do that for you.

Can you order TPS "stock" patterns in composite too, or only wood?

And does TPS have a P23 curve?

You can get any pattern you want in wood, it's called a custom blade. I use P31 composite tapered blades and my friend uses P13 OPS. I don't recall a P23 blade from TPS but they use their own numbering system and not any other manufacturers numbering designations.

It would be easy, but also expensive, and I'm not really dying to buy the sticks available from that.
