Interesting Find at local sports store

Recommended Posts

I was getting groceries at a nearby Lund's Supermarket and I decided to stop into a Play It Again Sports next door and spied these skates on the wall. Tried em on and they both are surprisingly stiff but comfortable.

Aah... Korspos...

Interestingly enough, we never see any Kor skates around, but Torspos are popping up from time to time at various locations.

$199 for the Torspo 100s

$159 for the Sweet 50s.

For the money, these skates fit pretty well and felt like a much more expensive skate. Since when did Play It Again Sports start selling $499 Vapor XXXXs?

I'm not sure if anyone in the know is yet allowed to say anything(not sure why?), but what exactly is the situation at this moment between Torspo and Kor Sports? I thought I heard here earlier that we'd never see these skates in North America, but apparently they are here.

do i spy clear holders? hows the design like

Clear holders with perforated blades..Nice blades tho, it is obvious the steel is of high quality...Wheras the Sweet 50 did not have a perforated blade. For $160 I might get the Sweet 50. I've never put on a skate that was that cheap, but felt that nice.. They do run a little tight, more true to actual foot size perhaps? I'm a 9.5D in CCM, 10W in Grafs and a 9D in Flexlites, but they fit nice and snug, yet comfortably at size 10. I could have gone up to 10.5 easily. They fit around the ankles really nicely. The bottoms do look like a Kor skate. The Sweet 50s had a chrome holder.

Its only $150..a decent conversation piece. They may not be around for much longer.

When I put them on..They didnt fit like crappy skates. Very snug fitting though. I'm not sure I'd set foot out on the ice with a chrome holder though, but the boot looked to be pretty well made. I can see the similarity with the Kor skate on the bottom of the boot or the "arch" part where the boot and holders attach.

Torpso have been advertising in USA hockey mag that comes monthly. And they done an equipment feature a month or 3 ago, and Torpso skates were talked about along with the other big names.

They were quite gushing about them.

I don't know if this means the issues are cleared, or they anticipate them being cleared, but they have been getting the name out there

USA Hockey will gush about any product if you pay them.

The lawsuit is still ongoing to the best of my knowledge.

I do notice that Kor utilizes the Pitch holder whereas Torspo seems to have designed their own "Pikka" holder or some Finnish brand.

As I said on an earlier thresd, they're not bad for the money you pay for them. I'd give them a try if I needed new blades. A little more competition for the big three is good.

How they got there isn't good.

So you are of the opinion that Torspo stole Kor's idea or what? I did a bit of research..It is surprising at how much info there is out there about the claims regarding the two. I'd have to look into more than just what I hear to form an opinion of the matter.
