Your Favorite Tapered Blade

Recommended Posts

I agree with KBO25, the Christian blades are good. I have not tried a composite, but the wood blades do chip on the toe and get soft.

I have been using a Synergy II Drury blade and love it. I know that there have been reports of poor durability but I will see and report. Really stiff, snappers go really well, have to work on my wrist shot, with the openness of the blade they sail high. :)

For wood I would recommend the XXXlite. It is a good blade but won't obviously last as long as a composite.

Innovative 'Mogilny' retail or Warrior 'Weight' retail (I care more about the pattern than the brand).

My personal fav. pattern of all time. I would only change the lie to a 4.5. I have been wanting to custom order this pattern for near a year now. If anyone else is a righty and wants the same PM me and lets get this going.

they're the same curve?

No they are not the same blade. As discussed before.

Dolomite II - draper curve or the Vapor XXX Lite - Naslund curve

the naslund and draper are pretty much identical

I love and use the Naslund, since I cannot find the P10(Backstrom) anymore.

i love the curve too

awsome for stick handling capabilities and it provides a wicked wristshot

The AK27 is a standard blade NOT a tapered blade (the kind that he asked opinions on).

I love the Christian composite tapers. They are super light, and have the shortest hosel that I've seen.

Weird because I have a pattern 5 (iggy clone) tapered blade and the hosel is really long, longer than my Inno or Warrior which I find longer than most? Anyone else found the same thing?

Their compsite tapered blades all have different hosel lengths. The Modanos and Drurys are very short while the Recchi and Iggy are fairly long.

I have a Dolo blade in a Dolo shaft, and a TPS blade in a Dolo shaft. The Dolo has much better feel, less harsh than the TPS. Plus, the Dolo blade is a tank-still going strong after almost a year.

Do you know why they have the different hosel sizes on their blades? I much prefer the shorter hosel.

The differnent lengths is not intentional. Over the years we have created moulds that have been built by a few different tooling makers. As a result, there have been some inconsistencies. We will likely standardize the moulds next year so they all measure the same length. In the meantime, it's just another cost that we are not committed to investing in.

The difference in length between the patterns is no more than an inch.

I have been using one but after about 5 games it broke, and I don't take many slapshots.. I felt it getting soft about after the 3rd or 4th ice time.. last night in my game I took a slapshot and the blade torqued open and on the bench it was as stiff as a noodle.. good thing I bought a couple because I like it a lot for a woody, but I'll probably just bite the bullet and pay for the xxxlite composite or possibly the dolo II. has anyone here used both? and can compare the 2?

I can understand that, but I find an inch is alot when its the hosel length. Its a shame because the blade is great (shape, curve and feel), but I don't like the fact I have to cut down my stick to use the blade.

Agreed, an inch is a lot. You don't want to have to cut your shaft. Now, if it was the other way around, shaft already cut for longer hosel, then you get one of the shorter ones, not a big deal to fire an end plug in there. But, I use the short Drury, so I pretty much stick with that.

Well, after 10 games into the season, my Synergy II blade broke. Now I'm having trouble deciding which blade to get (model wise, not curve). I loved my Syn. II but I've heard great things about the Dolo blade. Which, out of those two, would you guys recommend?

I didn't want to start a new topic for this. Has anyone used a mission V-hex blade. I am thinking about getting one for my XXX-lite shaft. I am going to get a xxx-lite blade for it but I saw these and they look like a good deal. Thinking of getting some as spares. Any info?

If it's anything like the L-2 blade, should be pretty good. I've been using those for the last several weeks and haven't noticed any chips, cracks, or going soft at all.

I<ll second the caution on the RM9 blades - they have good durability and feel, but the patterns are different between them and the 950 blades - I ordered a RM9 Bouchard based on the pattern I saw on the 9950 sticks - I got the blade come and it is nowhere the same. The Spezza is also different, as mentioned earlier.
