Anahiem making Bryzer available

Recommended Posts

It will be interesting to see if anybody makes a claim on him. The cap hit the Ducks would take is approximately $900k if another team claims him.

Not really. If he gets claimed while going down his salary is completely off the books -- if he makes it down and is brought back through waivers to come back up... then it's a 50/50 situation.

Unless I misunderstood you.

I can't believe someone wouldn't pick him up, his salary seems very reasonable and a lot of teams could use a decent back-up....I don't see him much out in Anahiem, but what's the prevailing thought, could this guy be a starter on a playoff team?

Looks REAL bad on the Leafs here now by the way, considering what they've give up for Raycroft (Raask) and Toskala (1st round pick), and now they could have had Bryzgalov for nothing? Wow.

It's Hockey you know, it's only game, he's a good guy, I hope he gets picked up by Edmonton, , Novemeber months are -32, can you imagine, 8 months a year snow, it's like the north pole. Can you imagine.

Boston may bite. Manny's knee is still questionable. Thomas can only last so long before burning out. Rask isn't ready. Bergeron is on LTIR making his salary($4.5m-ish) available under the cap (unless by some miracle he'll be back by spring).

Caps should take a shot on him. Kolzig isn't getting any younger and they have a decent amount of room under the cap if I remember correctly.

If he gets claimed by 9am tomorrow morning, it counts against Anaheim's cap for $900k. If he clears waivers and is sent to Portland, there is only a cap hit for the time he has spent in Anaheim.

Oh, I misunderstood you were talking about theoretical cap hit.

They have room, just no sense. They need someone to fill the void between Olie and whoever comes next, but Olie and BJ are buddies, so they won't rock the boat, regardless of whats best for the team

This really wasn't needed to make the leafs look bad.

haha...yes, he certainly does have some value outside of stopping pucks simply due to the unintentional comedy he brings to every intereview

I guess I should have been clearer when I said this makes the Leafs looks bad...sorry, this makes the Leafs look worse.

Burke looks bad in this. He's had the chance to move him for a big return the past 2 summers, but chose not to do so. He should be claimed, a number of teams could use him.

Burke was on TSN...he said that he told Bryzer before the year that he would try to trade him...and if no deal came about he would put him on waivers. He said he couldn't make a trade (didn't specify about any offers he had) so he honored him word to waive him.

Why do you think he looks bad? Just for not getting anything back?

Yes, when he's apparently had offers before it all becomes moot. I think the Bertuzzi signing is a worse move than this non-move.

2 Summers ago he was their projected starter over Giggy, but they still got offers from teams in the Raycroft/Gerber "sweepstakes". Then Giggy took the job back, and this summer he had more offers. I heard he wanted more than Toskala and Fernandez went for. Bad asset management if he thought Hiller was this good, if not, Giggy's still an ample starter. Shouldn't have kept him to start the season and see whether he could keep his job before moving him. There wasn't much to lose, but a fair bit to gain.

I'm failing to see why they wouldn't trade him for something rather than let him go for nothing. He's a pretty decent goalie they could have atleast got a pick for him

They tried and couldn't get any thing for him.

I didnt think Abeischer was THAT bad that the dude isnt getting ANY NHL time...whats the deal on all this? When I saw that Phoenix was first on the list I figured they would grab him. Those guys should draft a goalie at somepoint with one of their many high round picks.

On a side note, does this free up the sort of room for Niedermayer and Selanne coming back?

So now Phoenix has Auld/Tellqvist/Aebischer & Bryzer...in the organization.

I assume they'll be waiving someone.

This is EXACTLY what the Yotes have wanted/needed since the summer - a LEGIT number 1 goalie that can carry the load. I'm not delusional, Bryz is by no means Ken Dryden, but he's a perfect match for what the Desert Dogs need.

Abby was 'supposed' to be the guy.

Maloney tried to get Montoya before the season started, but Sather was asking for Ballard in return. I think Maloney might STILL be laughing...

I kind of feel badly for Tellqvist. He really is a nice goaltender. Fundamentally solid, and doesn't let in too many softies. In a better system, Telly would be just fine.

Zach,

Dave LeNeveau, a PHX draft pick, was supposed to be the Goalie of the future for the Yotes. The organization had VERY high hopes for him. He just doesn't posess the mental toughness needed to succeed at the top level. He has all the tools, but no toolbox, so to speak.

Gretz has completely lost all hope on him, and barring something very dramatic, he won't get another shot.
