camhockey16 5 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 i can't really say im suprised anymore either - did he think he was a gangster or something? i can't even pretend i understand but why does this keep happening? how are TO and ocho cinco able to avoid this stuff? (just kidding)at least it doesn't happen alot in the NHL yet...
mack 44 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 That's because TO and Johnson aren't thugs or impersonating the life of a thug. They're flashy and brash, but that's it as they're apparently more than decent people away from the field. Taylor though? Even though this sounds like a robbery, the man is a nutball. Another product of "The U."
Patrick67 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 I concur with macks post. Until we actually have a NHL player impersonating a street thug, or getting in legal troubles a coulpe of times a year and get banned from the league *cough* Pacman Jones *cough* we should be spared. The NBA & NFL are far ahead in that perspective and we all know why, but it's too impolite say. camhockey16 5 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 i think part of the problem is the mentality that if you are good at sports you can get away with anything... I know the football players in my school pretty much ran the halls and would have to do something really bad to get in trouble. They are taught they can do whatever they want as long as they perform on the field - and once they make it to the nfl/nba they actually get paid to do it too. Until they change that it's going to keep happening.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 The NBA & NFL are far ahead in that perspective and we all know why, but it's too impolite say.We do? Hockey players tend to come from more affluent families? Most middle-class kids don't get so deeply involved in the life-style. That said some of the details lead me to wonder about the motivation. They said a week or so ago, someone came in left a knife sticking in his bed. Then the intitial reports I saw said he was shot in "the groin". That sounds like it could be a pissed-off (psycho) woman who came after him. Either that, or it was payback for nailing someone's sister. Purely speculation on my part based on the strange nature of some of the "facts" in the case.

RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Apparently he was turning it around though...getting out of the thuggery and shit and concentrating on football and his new baby.

JR Boucicaut 3802 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Thing is, Taylor wasn't your run-of-the-mill born in Carol City Miami "thug." Was actually middle class - dad was police chief down in Florida City and went to Gulliver Prep. Schools like that in Miami don't recruit players from the ghetto.Never did anything at UM that was deemed unlawful - I believe his problems started when he was already a pro.Still, sad to see, he was a great player at UM and Washington. foppa21 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Even with being airlifted, he didn't have the greatest chance to make it with a severed femoral artery. He probably went into hypovolemic shock and then once the organs start shutting down, that's pretty much it.
Wolfpack_1986 154 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 heard on the radio that the phone line to his house was cut. wonder what kind of shit he was getting mixed up in, that someone wanted him dead that badly.

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Some of the stories in the DC area today. The phone line was cut, it was connected to an alarm system. That would normally trigger the alarm, but it wasn't activated, so didn't.He was going to the bedroom door, when it was kicked in. Two shots, first missed, second hit the groin area.He had a machete for protection. The terms of his probation were he could not own a firearm (one of the charges was illegal possession of a firearm)It's now been classified as a homicide, not a burglary and manslaughter as originally thought. So, it looks like it was a hit/targetted attack. The skins are going to be painting his number on the grassy area outside Fedex field this week, as well as on the side of one of the surfaces there.Think thats about it.
