Flite Hockey

Recommended Posts

Since I'm just a strictly recreational player, I've recently been trying to find different brands and alternatives to the nice yet expensive equipment in most hockey stores. Today I came across Flite roller hockey skates and I'm really interested to know about them. Does anyone here have any information on them? Are they new or just that unknown? In order to test them I'm sure I'd have to order online which brings up several problems (fit/return policy/etc.) so I thought I should ask around and find out as much as I can.

This is the website I found: http://www.flitehockey.com/

They make ice equipment and a line of goalie gear, but I'm solely interested in their inlines.

Never heard of them.....so I can't pass judgment on if they are a good company or not. The only thing upon initial inspection of them that concerns me is the cloth/nylon outer shell. If you are using this for hockey, especially on anything other than sport court, you will shred through the material relatively quickly.

Good products for rec hockey, decent prices. They use other peoples products rebranded.

ie: goalie pads and gloves are made by McKenney, MIA was making player gloves for them...don't know if they still are, etc... unfortunately I don't know much about their skates so I can't really comment on that. :(

Seems to me it was Marty McSorely's brother, or something like that, that started Flite.

Yes it is Gerry McSorely, they have had some quality gloves etc out throughout their existence

Haven't skated in the newer boots, previous models used to have a nice overall volume to it

gloves are often made SMU for them through a factory in the past they used Eagle, etc so being that the owners of MIA were people who shafted Eagle..probably still the same factory..

some people i know used their OPS and liked it, proceeds went to Breast Cancer Research (it was an all pink stick w/corresponding ribbon)

There should be a lot of info on this in the ice section as they've been hanging around the ice side of thing for years.

A few of my team mates used to have the gold series skates which always held up really well, the best thing though was that they used to come with red star chassis as standard which in my opinion are some of the best. But as I said that was a while ago and haven't seen nay of the current gear in person.

I got a pair of the flite golds for ice in college with custom sizing, colors and tongue. I converted them to inline when I finished at school and loved them. One of the most comfortable boots I've ever used.
