Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I guess this could be a general speculation thread, as rumours are better than truth...http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3153129A former New York Yankee strength trainer says information he supplied to the George Mitchell investigation regarding supplying Roger Clemens with steroids is included in the Mitchell report scheduled to be released later today, a source close to the trainer told ESPN The Magazine's Shaun Assael.Brian McNamee, who worked for the Yankees and as a personal trainer for Clemens and Yankee teammates Andy Pettitte, also told investigators that on at least one occasion, Clemens was in possession of steroids from another supplier, the source said.Story continues after the click
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I beginning to wonder whether the report will turn out to be anti-climatic. For instance, Clemens and Petitte were leaked during Jason Grimsley's affair.
mik3 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I'm surprised Varitek's name was kept in by Mitchell. And, RICH GARCES?!?!?!
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I've always suspected Varitek, but El Guapo would be a WTF moment!
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 PDF of the full reporthttp://files.mlb.com/mitchrpt.pdfpage 127 of 409 is the list of players and details, just to save you reading through it
mik3 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Here, I'll sum it up based on Mitchell's press conference.Steroids are bad.We know of players using steroids before they were banned.Since they were banned they've moved on to stuff we have no information on and can't be tested for yet. Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 My question is this.....is the report nothing more than an independent expose', or is it a study with retroactive actions being taken against the players that are guilty of steroid use.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Well, it confirms a lot of suspicions I've had over the years, just based on certain players' appearances. There are still more I've suspected, so I think some people are getting off scotch free.My question is this.....is the report nothing more than an independent expose', or is it a study with retroactive actions being taken against the players that are guilty of steroid use.It basically is an independent expose and hasn't been determined what baseball will do with the information. mik3 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 So, pretty much everything they didn't get from Radomski and Clemens' trainer was hearsay. This is how 20mil was spent?
mrusse01 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Going to be interesting to see how the public reacts to Clemens being in there. No way he has the balls to come back next season now (or did he retire again? I can't remember)
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Clemens is hardly a shocker. A fat and out of shape Roger isn't re-upped in Boston in the fall and a powerful, dominating Roger shows up for Blue Jays spring training. People did that math years ago. mrusse01 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Yeah but now it is out there in print, much like anyone with half a brain suspected Bonds was juicing...it wasnt really until the whole BALCO thing hit that the public really turned on him.I can already see the black vs. white arguments getting drawn up now when the negative reaction to Clemens turns out to be a fraction of that directed at Bonds (not saying I agree one way or the other, you just know that discussion is coming in a big way now)

A fat and out of shape Roger isn't re-upped in Boston in the fall and a powerful, dominating Roger shows up for Blue Jays spring training. People did that math years ago.I think his drug use started when he got to TO and started playing with Jose...I haven't read the whole report...butt that's what I skimmed through. mik3 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 The report says Clemens' use was pretty much confined to the offseason between 97 and 98. It happened to be the ENTIRE winter, but yeah. And Pettitte's is in 2002 when he was recovering from the first elbow injury, which might have contributed to the weird way the second one happened. chk hrd 164 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 this is what gets me, everyone rails Bonds for his home record because he took steroids (allegedly). Now we see a bunch of players, pitchers included who took them. Sounds like they were on a level playing field. If you discount Bonds record and chance to go to the hall of fame then you need to do the same to Clemens and the rest.

It says that McNamee injected Clemens with steroids or HGH during the 1998, 2000 and 2001 seasons.

mik3 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Evidently Sosa's supplier knew how to keep his mouth shut.Well, they pretty much just used three suppliers to get all those names. Then there's the guy(s) who supplied all those names that came out earlier in the day that were then pulled.
