Canadiens get spanked by Ribeiro

I agree with you, I just don't believe that transformation happens if he stays in Montreal.

I think so, too. Sometimes playing for your hometown doesn't work out. It probably helps that very few people here in Dallas would recognize him in public. Less pressure = better results, usually. Plus, there's some pretty decent leadership on the team.

He had to become a great player after his unbelievable QJMHL career. This guy dominated the league just like Briere, Lecavalier, Richards, etc. did recently. You can dominate Junior hockey and not do well in the NHL but those numbers usually mean something.

Alexander Daigle

Right, where in my post do i say that there aren't any exceptions? In fact, if you read again, i wrote my post with Alexandre Daigle in mind.

Alexander Daigle

For living in Ottawa I can easally understand his situation

In the case of Alexandre, I don't think he was not good as much as he did not meet expectations that was put on him by the Ottawa Senators, they needed to sell tickets so they tagged this guy with "The next Mario" so people bought tickets expecting exactly that, plus they gave him a huge contract that he never even asked for (How dumb is that?)

Ottawa Senators is the reason the cap was installed on rookies, look as his stats on a year to year and compare to guys like Lecavalier and Richards first years and on stats alone, he was doing fine, People and the papers kept dragging his name in the mud and wen he tried to hand out in Hull across the bridge to Ottawa (On the Quebec side) his own people greated him with jealousy...

Again, another 18 year old messed up, in his case he got all his money up frond and the NHL became a very uninteresting environment...

Another guy that his REP will never go away, this guy took 3 years off, chilling in LA and playing pickup hockey with movies stars for 3 full years and still came back and made 2 different teams.... Went to Europe and dominated, went to the Spengler cup representing Davos and was dominant...

Some guys just cant win, If daigle was drafted by a team like lets say Florida, we'd be talking about a great carrier...

Remember this, you as a fan see Daigles situation and Ribieros situation as a failure but look at the fact, These guys had better stats then these no talent 3rd and 4th line guys in the league and it was not enough, thats why a guy like Briere stayed the hell away from the Montreal hotbed, in his heart he would love to put that uniform but the lifestyle can crush you...

And mark my words, if he does not quit, Simon Gamache will be the next Briere in this league

Honestly, I think Daigle got a bad rap. He was pretty productive until he started playing for teams that expected him to be a third line checker and still score a point a game.

You're joking, right. Daigle was a complete bust in the NHL. As for Briere, he followed the money, if Montreal offered the same deal he would have jumped all over it. The Gamache/Briere thing is too comical to even comment on.

Whenever anyone mentions Mike Ribiero, I can't help but remember watching him play the Canucks last season. I had my company's tickets and I was three rows up from the ice. Right in front of me, I caught Ribiero checking out one of the ice guys. Not just a little peek, but a full-on neck-to-shoulders-to-back-to-butt-to-skates and back up again, the special look resevered for when the hottest girl of the night walks into the club (except in Mike's case, which apparently was reserved for the hottest ice guy).

Take it for what you will, but you can add my story to the legend of Ribiero.

And even if he was gay, what does that have to do with his talent, you homophobic bro?

Just goes to show how fickle Hockey fans can be. I guess we judge people's talent levels by how they dress off ice now? To me he looks like most any European player off ice, and yes I know he's not European.

He is a great guy in person, at least with the fans here in Dallas. They like him and he takes his time to stop and chat, take pictures or sign things. Maybe it's a "new leaf" thing he's got going here, it is obvious he's not the same player he was up North.

Give the guy a break, he's taking a pic with a kid who is obviously a fan...good for him.

Awesome, you took his hand-me-downs in HS.

Funny thing is, I did not have too, at one time, we where equals, me in Basketball, him in hockey of course...

Now I know you're lying. The only good Canadian basketball players are already in the NBA, both of them.

Chippa already got to it ahead of me and I have to agree with him. James Blunt is already killing it in Phoenix. Oh well, I don't want to keep anyone from staying in their glory years.
