2008 NHL All Star Game

Recommended Posts

I hope they don't botch it up. No mention of hardest shot and sniper's com.

I remember when they did the goalie shot before. They put a waist-high barrier at center ice and they had to shoot crease to crease, right? That was after Osgood got his empty netter, can't remember when Hextall and Brodeur (?) got theirs though.

The skill shot sounds like it could be cool, but why the hell did they need to mention NBA dunk-fest?

How is Leclaire not an All-Star? Wasn't he second in votes behind Luongo?

Every year there is at least one guy who gets screwed, evidently he's the guy who got jobbed this year.

His record isnt as good as everyone else...but hard to look past 7 shutouts.

And yeah, who the heck put Duncan Keith in there?

Not really up to date on St. Louis and Columbus's records but its hard to put Legace in over LeClaire. He did get the short end of the stick, no pun intended.

As far as the rest of the rosters go I don't really have any problem with them, good to see Statsny in there from Colorado. Tremendous skills and talent there.

As for Duncan Keith, I can understand where your coming from Chadd, I get all the Blackhawk games around here and I don't know what everyone sees in him that I've talked to. Yes he's fast and can create a rush type opportunity but his problem is in his own zone, I thought I was the only one that thought he turned it over every time he touched the puck. But I mean I don't think Seabrook is much better, he's slow, often out of position and the only thing offensively he's got going for him is his shot. Both of them together isn't really a "top-pairing" in my opinion.

The problem is that every team has to be represented. If a team is crap and doesn't have any deserving players, then they should not be represented. IMO, Rick Nash does not deserve to be at this year's ASG, but Pazzy does.

Seabrook passes the puck very well, especially that first pass out of the zone. Compared to Keith he's slow but he's no Derian Hatcher out there. I would also blame some of his positional issues on playing with a guy like Keith who rushes from corner to corner and point to point in his own zone on most shifts.

That said, they don't have a real #1 defenseman on that team. They have about ten guys who rotate through the lineup on any given night. They should be looking to move a some of that depth for a little more quality.

Ed Jovanovski - Phoenix Coyotes

Duncan Keith - Chicago Blackhawks

Jason Arnott - Nashville Predators

None of those guys are All-Stars in my opinion...get rid of the one player per team rule.

He may not be a legit defenseman in his own end, but the basic point of the all star game is offense, not defense, so who cares. There may be better deserving players out there, but I'd rather see D-men rush the puck and take chances, rather than a top flight defensive defenseman shutting down rushes during the game.

I'm also a bit confused about Legace, but he has been hot lately and has put up good numbers. It's odd seeing new comers to the game every year, rather than guys like Turco or Giguere, even though those players may not be having seasons they're normally accustomed too. The one player per team rule should also be axed. I understand putting the all stars of every team together, but I'd rather have a league wide all star event, where the best from the league are put together instead. Also hesitant on some of the new skill events, like fastest skater, and the obstacle course. Also, the goalie scoring event seems kinda retarded as well.

legace only has a few more good seasons left. leclaire has years to be to be in, and will be in all star games. he only has a total of 87 nhl games under his belt.... look for him to be in the youngstars game.

manny has worked hard and is playing amazing right now. he deserves it

Exactly. Manny has definitely paid his dues and its good to see him get rewarded for it. Its unfortunate for LeClaire because he has had a great season as well, but he'll get his shot.

Too bad Ribs did not get the nod...

I'm guessing he and Huselius would be high on the list as replacements if a forward gets hurt or backs out.

updated the list back on page 2 with the eastern roster..

Do I need to wash my eyes, or is Sundin actually NOT on the team?

What a fucking joke...this has to be the biggest all-star snub in the history of any sport.

i think you could easily make an arguement for green, huselius, and sundin..

maybe replace keith with souray (he is an all star although he's been hurt)

did they strictly go by number of votes or did they try to have at least one guy from each team or what?
