Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Kor manufacturing, makers of the Shift 1 and Shift 2 skates is now selling OPS sticks that are Kor branded. Kor makes sticks for other companies (dunno which -- anyone?)in their Mexican manufacturing plant and is finally coming out with their own flavour. I've got another pair of skates on the way from these (great) guys and have been asking about sticks so they sent me this now that they're ready to launch the Kor brand twigs:"Currently we offer 5 blade curves in two distinct models, the CX3 and the ZX4. Take advantage of our January promotion which is $115.00 + shipping [approx $8-12 UDS), this goes for $139.00-$149.00 at retail." -- R. Enriquez, Kor manufacturing.I have a PDF flex chart and promo brochure with some detail and pix but am having trouble posting here as insert image button asks me for a URL... don't get that.Sticks have a 16" taper, Sr, Int. and Jr. sticks with flexes from 132 - 44. Kor emphasizes a very low flex point, very low blade attachment point, built in sweet spot on blade (no details on construction -- air bladder etc.), reinforced slash area, Curves: Modano, Morrow, Drury, W. Primeau, Gionta. Sticks are black, only one color scheme apparent.I'm guessing pretty durable sticks and they look pretty good. I have one on order and play 5 days a week with pros and Jr's who hack the crap outta my stick every day so we'll see... and I'll be sure to report. Thanks to Kor for the info. Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Not an ad -- just passing along the info I was sent by Kor. Don't think I'm breaking any ModSquad rules but I'm new so forgive if so. Guys have been asking about when Kor sticks would come out and I'm quoting the email I got from one of their engineers who is helping me with some new skates. Rustpot 1 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 It's asking for URL for the picture because you need to link another site, you can't link directly from your hard drive. Go to a free picture hosting site like photobucket, make an account and upload them there, then link them here.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 I've been using the CX-3. A touch too grippy and square, but good balance and good kick. I'll have a review up shortly.
Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 JR my literature does not describe difference between CX3 and ZX4. Can you fill me in? Grippier than One90 sticks? Shaft is too square (you don't mean the blade, right?) Pretty heavy stick JR? I guess I could wait for your review.... or for my stick to come.... good deal at under 120$ you reckon? Is it a state secret who else they make sticks for?

JCYC5 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 What's the flexes compared to Easton flex?
Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Kor 77 - Easton 75, Kor 88 - Easton 90, Kor 99 - easton 100, Kor 110 - Easton 110, Kor 121 - Easton 120 and Kor has a stiffy worth a ridonkculous 132. Al MacInnis worthy. This is per the comparo chart Kor sent me.Chadd, not pretending to be as in the loop as you guys but have been searching for Kor stick news on the site and had read more questions than answers, thought I'd contribute. Are you using a Kor stick at all?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 We had one topic on the sticks that was several pages long. As for testing, nobody likes to give me stuff to test. I'm very hard to please.

Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Didn't say I was a Jr. or minor pro, just played with a crowd that is 50-75% any given day. If you think that's bragging or something consider how I have to be to step on the ice with them every day.Regardless, question was to JR when he said stick was "a touch too square". He didn't specify shaft or blade and I was just double checking though it does seem pretty obvious. Some squared-ff blades are ridic square for toe-draggers.Way to contribute. Thanks rustpot my search didn't include quotations and was rejected. Duh.should have read: ...consider how HUMBLE I have to be...
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 I never mentioned blade, so I would think most people would take that as in meaning the shaft shape.

irbenaid 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Ok, so of course I'm interested in this. How would I go about getting the stick for this price? Would I have to contact Kor directly? Also, what's the difference between the two models? Thanks for any help!
A2rhino 63 Report post Posted January 11, 2008 what's the difference between the two models? Thanks for any help! That is the million dollar question that isnt being shared or noone knows. I know that I'm waiting on this myself beofore I order it.
Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted January 11, 2008 That is the million dollar question that isnt being shared or noone knows. I know that I'm waiting on this myself beofore I order it. Check out the other Kor stick thread: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...stick&st=15Quoting from there:OK, I may have heard a little sum-thin sum-thin from a reliable source. Here's some info on the Kor stick:* Sticks will be unveiled at the Vegas show in January* They have a patent pending regarding the way the blade is woven into the stick resulting in "the lowest joint possible"* The blade itself is pre-peg weave * They are proposing 2 stick models: one low 500gram and the other approx 445 grams.* I believe one of the models is called the ZX4, I think the other is the Apex* True on-piece construction* I have heard 16 and 17 inch tapers, so presume that either they went with a longer taper at 17 (as that's the last one I heard). It's either that or the taper varies by model. * They will offer a grip, clear, or texture finish.* They are planning on 5 different curves which they are finalizing now but the front runners are CLONES of the TPS Morrow, Modano (presume Easton, although I think the CCM is clone anyway), and the Easton Drury. They are also considering the Primeau and the Gionta (but I am unfamiliar with either of the latter two). There's also a rep from Kor that's a member here, BreakingParadigms, who had this to add:First off allow me to mention that JR has permitted us to participate and most of all to share product info with any interested party in this site.I'm a Sr engineer that is actively involved in all hockey product design at KOR, and look forward to have the opportunity to meet all of you in January at LV.On the KOR stick I'll be very brief and will gladly answer any following questions.By no means are we coming out with a me too product, KOR has always taken pride in innovation and superior performance. We have come up with a breakthrough process to "mold in" the blade, which truly fuses the stick into a one piece component; this is our Apex performance technology. The stick does have a 17" taper, with a reinforced slash area, consistent flex through the stick with a mid-low kick point.Beta versions have been distributed to selected retailers, and our super light structure will be presented in LV, this has a 445gr weight.Kind regards,EZ
A2rhino 63 Report post Posted January 11, 2008 I did read all this as well as know about the blade connection and all that good stuff but nowhere (not even on the product brochure I have) have I read about the differance between the two models other than the CX is 500 or so grams and the ZX is 450 or so grams.
