Request: Checking Dolomite Flex

Recommended Posts

For those of you with retail Dolomites (shafts or sticks I suppose), can you check to see what the flex is on the inside of the shaft? I'm wondering what the equivalent Inno flex is to a retail 85.

Try the FLEX CHART link at the top of the page (yellow bar, to the right).

I'm not looking for the Easton flex equivalent, I'm looking for the Innovative flex. When Warrior markets an 85 flex, is it a 300, 280, 260, 320?

Got this from HM. Looks about right. The 260 Inno shaft I have feels 95ish.

FLEX CONVERSION CHART

FLEX/FLEX

100=XXX Stiff

160=120

180=115

200=110

220=105

24=100

260=95

280=90

300=85

320=80

340=75

360=70

380=Whip Flex

400=X-Whip Flex

Yeah, if that is correct, and the MSH chart is correct, Dolomites are about 5 flex whippier than Eastons. And I know a 320 does feel like a 75 flex Easton. But I'm looking for a 300 flex (80 Easton) and want to know if I a retail 85 flex Dolo is going to be 300 or 280, or what.

Seems like you've answered your own question. INNO doesn't offer an 85 flex equivalent. Your choices seem to be either 80 (inno 300) or 90 (inno 260) unless they've since started offering a 280 flex.

There were a bunch of pro stocks in 280.

What he wants to know is what the Inno tag (if there is one) says on the inside of the shaft on retail Dolomites that are marked 85 on the outside. Are they marked 280, 300, 320?

I suspect there would be some of each.

Yes!

Someone mentioned they got an 85 flex that was marked 300 on the inside, and he thought it was whippier than normal, implying than an 85 flex should be the same as a 280.

I think I'll end up going to the store with a knife and flashlight and confuse the hell out of the workers.

Sorry, wasn't aware that they had marking Dolo's with alternate flexing from the old Inno numbers.

Their current stuff is all marked with the conventional 85, 95, 100 method.

From what I've read and from experience people have had, you're looking anywhere around the board from 90 to 75 marked as an 85 retail.

My best guess is that their QC isn't on par and they go and test every shaft they make, marking the actual correct flex on the 300 scale inside the shaft and call it close enough.

I'm beginning to think the HM "pro stock" shafts were ones meant for retail or pro distribution that they got the flex wrong on and dumped them for grab-bag shafts to not loose all their money by putting them in the trash or giveaways.

I'm still curious as to how people think one shaft is a 93 while another is a 97, both marked 95. Most of the people on this board are bonkers when it comes to it, generalizing feel of different kickpoint and shaft/blade setups as a flex differing from that which is marked.

Bonkers I say.

Edit- To the OP; Does it matter that much that you have exactly the same flex? If so, get the same stick. If you can deal with an 80, get the flex that could be a little softer, vice versa as well. If it comes down to it that you can't gamble, don't do it. You can probably resell here for about what you paid, or return to a LHS or online for a restocking fee.

Except Warrior doesn't offer all of the retail flexes that HM is offering. And all of the shafts I've gotten have been within +/- 2 of the flex on the outside of the shaft.

Repainted leftover 1100's they haven't been able to move until now? Who knows. Someone said there was definitely another color underneath that wasn't a retail Warrior color. All we know is the weight and actual flex are on a sticker inside of what is painted to be an AK or Dolo.

Some people, IIRC, had numbers as far as 10 off. Mine was 6 off (386).

Who cares if it's a repainted 1100 they couldn't move until now? That's ALL Dolomites and AK27s are now. Do you think there's a difference with the shaft aside from paint since Warrior took over? It's a ~$60 shaft marked down from around $100. If you want that comfort of getting a "real" Warrior pay the extra money.

Plus, I highly doubt that any brand of stick/shaft is more accurate than the actual flexes listed on the Warrior shafts.

Does anyone know how they do the flex testing? If it's an actual stress test, then I'm guessing the tested sticks don't get distributed.

Thanks for the help.

I know 320 is going to be a bit whippier than what I want, but and 85 Easton is too stiff, and I had a Vapor XX 87 flex (I believe those were made by Inno) that was also too stiff. So the 300 would be perfect.

Problem is, I won't have the cash for a couple weeks, and HM will probably be all out, so I'll end up buying retail, and looking for a 300.

the 320 pro stock dolemite i got from HM feels more like an 85. It is quite a bit stiffer than my 75 flex retail dolemite shaft. I believe the 320 was even marked as a 323 or something on the inside before i cut it an inch.
