Easton Stealth S15 shaft

Recommended Posts

Friend of mine who is a retail manager at a shop down here offered me some at discount for march delivery for when they hit retail stores. I figured I'd pick up three and if I didn't like them I'll get rid of them but anyone know if it's going to be just a tapered shaft? With the elliptical design I was curious as to what they are doing. He says the Easton rep is a ghost so he has no clue either.

I think it's the Z-Bubble replacement. Not sure, but I think that's this one and the Syn II shafts are going to be Synergy SE shafts.

No kidding....ah well...worth a shot. I tried ou the 17 and i liked the kick, but i hate the feel of a onepiece, the blade really..prefer wood. I was hoping one of those geniuses at Easton would come up with an idea.

Because they're smart they'll have people buying the S17 and if then perhaps put a two-piece version out of it after a while.

The problem is that the production methods used on stealths (new and old) doesn't lend itself to just popping the pieces apart and selling it as a two piece. As more manufacturers move to that process, the shafts will either get left behind in terms of technology or require more resources than in the past.

Bleh, I didn't have the catalog in front of me, I was thinking the tapered was the Stealth.

Z-bub -> Stealth 15

Syn II -> SE

UL -> ST?

Synergy 300/350 gone

Synergy SC6 is new

Everything is getting Synergy or Stealth names (that didn't have it before) and corresponding paint jobs. They're bringing the products together under two lines, the regular and the high performance, sort of like the NBH Supreme/Vapor.

I hope shafts aren't going the way of the dodo, will be interesting to see what they put out. could we see an elliptical shaft/blade combo someday?

Really like the color scheme on the SE...

Was standing with a Synergy II in one hand and a SE Taper shaft in the other, and even though they are exactly the same stick the SE just looks so much nicer...

God painting Easton ;-)

thats sweet i cant wait to see the new line. and the good news is now the syn2's should be all getting blown out soon lol. it's been mentioned before but id like to see some price point taper stuff soon, maybe even some less expensive wooden blades for them as well

I saw all the shafts yesterday except for the SE. I also got to checkout the new ST stick with grip. The grip is similar to the nipple grip/ kind of a textured grip. Nice stick.

With modern shafts having such low kickpoints, it'd be strange to think of getting rid of them. I thought the S17 was actually a bit higher since the elliptical part didn't flex?

Although I could be wrong. Some guys think composites aren't necessary, some guys think tapered shafts aren't, some guys won't think new designs are necessary.

people at easton aren't dumb, and if they were to come out with something like that, no other company would turn out elliptical blades, once you bought an s17 elliptical shaft, you would have to buy the elliptical blades to go with it, it would be a smart move by easton to get there eventually.

What wrong with the Z bubble?

Easton did it before with intermediate shafts only taking intermediate Easton blades, all the other companies stick senior blades in those shafts. Did they end up following suit or is it still like that for them?

Just wasnt the fan of the zbubble. Didnt like the way it felt in the hands, kicked or how it broke seemingly soo easy.

Where do you retrieve pics? Did i miss the Easton 08 catalogue?

my lhs let me see it.

and i've always thought the same about elliptical shafts too, they would be much better against torquing, as basic material mechanics points out. this is personal preference, but also i think round shafts fould be easier to grip.

if they made elliptical shafts like the zbubble and kept the hosel square though, it would probably snap in two very fast. all force would concentrate on the part where the ellipse transists to the box, most likely making the shaft (or blade) snap near the hosel.

Great Skate has the new S15, SE, and ST shafts, available for March delivery.

right on, some pics too

http://www.greatskate.com/webmodules/catCa...9&ManuID=83

edit: blades as well

http://www.greatskate.com/webmodules/catCa...8&ManuID=83

is the s15 shaft standard or tapered? says theres a focus flex zone and the s15 blade is standard...sounds like a z-bubble

from the sounds of it as most have thought...

s15 = z-bubble

SE = sYnergy2

ST = ultralite
