Nov101775 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Middleton, Brickley etc from a Bruins alumni game. To be honest, I really didn't know who they were except that Mddleton was an announcer and Brickley was in NHL93 for the Sega. Aside from the fact the beat the hell out of us in the game. Done like dinner 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 I like how Pittsburgh has taken over the thread -- says a lot.I laugh about having sipped from the cup having "jinxed my career" but of course, I never had a career that needed jinxing, I never had the goods for Jr. A. Still, drinking from the cup does seem somehow a little disrespectful -- or something. When I was 16 it was a ballsy move and when you're sixteen it's balls before brains every time, but my best memories now of that evening are of hiding in the cloakroom scared witless, not actually being with the Stanley cup etc. Anticipation is better than the deed itself I suppose.Bob Probert, now that's a guy to have a drink with. I don't know if I can think of a tougher enforcer.
Bravada 442 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Pittsburgh has talent, dogg. There's a sweet strip joint in that area in McKee's Rock, PA. Any yunzers up in here to back me up?That strip club in Mckees Rocks would be Club Erotica. Not a bad place. Just don't go to Silky's downtown. There are some bigggggggggggggg broads down there. Focus: I drank with Kevin Stevens at a Pittsburgh themed bar at the last Penguins-Capitals game in DC. Myself and a couple buddies went down to visit a friend and catch the game and happened across this bar. After the game was over we went back and Stevens was there, I guess scouting. Super cool guy, very very friendly.I also accidentally ran into Mario Lemieux at a Pittsburgh steak house one time while he was coming out of the bathroom door. But that is a whole different story

Hipster 5 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Back when I lived in Chicago, I played a round of golf or two with some old guys from the Hawks. Savard, Sutter, Larmer, Goulet (never really think of him as a Hawk, though.) Magnuson. A few brew pops along the way.The best. however, was playing 18 holes with Mikita. What a gentleman. He was too good a golfer to ruin it with beers. I think he shot 72 on a course set up for PGA tour qualifying rounds.
Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I once had a champagne breakfast with Grant Fuhr and Felix Potvin at the Westin when I was twelve. It was (IIRC) Potvin's first call-up, and he was nervous as hell. My dad and I were sitting a couple of tables over, and when it looked like there was a lull in the conversation I slipped over to say hi. They invited us to join them for a minute, since they were just leaving, and Fuhr was very keen on ordering flutes the table - largely, I suspect, in an effort to steady Potvin's nerves. All I really remember of the conversation was Potvin looking absolutely hunted, like he expected someone to fire a puck at his head any second, while Fuhr was trying to coax him into talking more. Vermette20 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Nevre drank with any NHL'ers, have with some UHL/ECHL sometimes called up AHL players, but thats about it. Hey I live in Elmira, im 5 or so hours from NYC, and 2 1/5 from buffalo, so nothing around here but Minor Pro. Anyhow I used to go party with at the time UHL Elmira Jackals players, now ECHL Elmira Jackals. Its funny how its not even a high paying league and the chicks are still all over them. Anyhow I used to hang out with a couple of players at their apartment right near the arena, after hours parties ( I bartend so I would bring my own beer) by the time I got there the beer was gone, so I got wise to that. Anyhow probably the one I used to talk to the most was Nathan Gillies, now playing with Charlotte of the ECHL, his older brother played a few games with Anahiem ( look on you tube, theres a video of Boogard destroying him) Hell here's the link Casey
Marrick66 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 A few years ago Brent Severyn, whom I think does color for Anaheim now, did an adult camp here. After the last night, he bought pizza and beer for all of us, and we sat out in the parking lot until about 3AM just BSing and him telling stories. He was super-nice. I happened to be in sherlock holmes pub off jasper (103 ave?) well anyway I pissed in the urninal next to steve larmer, I looked over at him and said (while pissing) 'hey you're steve larmer' he kind of looked at me like I was insane, muttered 'yep, sure am' finished his business and proceeded to get drunk off their tits with all the other retired habs/oil players. Needless to say I haven't said another word in the toilet from that time forward, just keep myself to myself.
