how much did you size down for your skates?

Recommended Posts

I tagged along for a PureHockey trip last week, and I got myself sized up while I was there. I've been skating in a 6E Reebok 10k for a year, and I fit perfectly into size 5E 11k skates. I was told I have the smallest feet they had ever seen in an adult male :(

21 years old, 5'7

they always say toes should feather the toe cap, but it always makes my feet feel claustrophobic.

I wear an odd size 12.5 shoe, hard to find, so I usually just cope with either a 12 or 13 depending. When it comes to skates, if my feet feel too constrained (feathering) I just cant skate well. So I know what you mean. (went with an 11 RBK)

13 shoe

10.5 skate

What brand has you going down to a 10.5? I tried on 10.5 reebok/ccm skates and they were just too tight. (we have the same shoe size)

i would but no stores within 4 hours carry those skates.

Is there any reason you feel a need to get the S17s specifically instead of going to a store and getting fitted for a pair of skates?

As has probably been said in this thread shoe size does not mean foot size. Many people wear shoes much larger or maybe even smaller depending on the shoe and what they find comftorable. This makes shoe size completely irrelivent and proper fitting skates are more than worth a long drive.

+1 Its worth it to get fit correctly. Your skating will be much better in a boot that actually fits your foot than one that lets your foot flop all over the place.

I wear a size 12 shoe and a 9.5 skate.
