Penguinsfanatic 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I was just wondering if any of you guys on here experience that weird brother connection, where no matter where you are on the rink you just always seem to hit your brother with amazing passes that are just mind numbing. I'm not trying to talk myself up or anything like that I was just wondering if any of you guys on here have that connection with your brother? My brother and I are two years apart and are very competitive people, we have played on pretty much every team together from baseball to soccer. We only play inline hockey but when we are playing and on the same team it just doesn't seem fair cause i could be pined in the corner at our end of the rink and i just know where he is without even knowing and I hit him every time with a breakout pass for a goal....He does the same thing too when he has the puck and the guys we play with don't even like it when we are on the same team cause it just isn't fair lol......Well enough about that I was just wondering who else plays with their brother and experiences Sedin like effects? lol
Archangel#16 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I play with my brother on my high school team. We somewhat experience the same thing except he is usually the one that hits me with the passes. Me and him are not very competitive with each other like you and your brother are.

TheBert 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 My brother's a goalie. He'll read me like a book if I try to deke, but if I shoot, I usually can pick his weak spots.
Fletch 219 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I'm a forward and my brother's a defenseman....usually I just tell him to get me the puck if he wants us to score and most of the time he follows through ;)

AnthonyJTa 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Not on a team anymore... but my brother and I skate together in a few pickup hours. We end up finding each other more often than not. He just knows I'm always camped out front, and he's one of the best skaters in the pickup hours, so I always dish to him.
Hockeyman9621 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I think that same connection can go beyond brothers. Friends I've grown up with and played hockey with have that connection. We all play ice on different teams at different levels but we formed a roller hockey team this summer. 5 of us live within walking distance of eachother, so you must be thinking how good could we be but we actually qualified for NARCh in the platinum division, we didn't go because of how much it would have cost. Anyways, we clicked unbelievably. It was almost unfair because of how well we knew each others tendencies. There was one qualifier where we didn't win by less than 7. So just imagine the Sedin effect times 5. lol
srv2miker 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 My brother and I play defence, so it's a little different, but we do read the play exactly the same, so it makes down-low coverage easier. I always know where he's going to be, and I know what he's going to do so there's rarely an open man (unless the center's off f*cking the dog).
mack 44 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Only in pick-up games since there's a good amount of difference, but I wouldn't mind playing with him once he's gone past the competitive stages of it all.
-brady2 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I play on a line with twins if that counts. And yes, they seem to hit eachother like nobodies buisness. And then we have good chemistry, and when we are on its just beautiful, nothing better then not having to battle for the puck in your own end.
QandA 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Grew up playing with my brother. Played high school with him, grade 8-10 for me while he was in 10-12. I was about 5'2" and 90 pounds in grade 8 and got wrecked and ran my mouth,,,grade 9 same story, he stuck up for me. He was a 6'5" monster, I was a finesse guy, I'd throw it in front he'd score, he'd work in the corner's, I'd bask in the glory. One of the greatest things in life was playing with him. Very few people have the opportunity to play with a sibling like that, and it was a great time.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I have two brothers on my team and we have to split them up. They really don't play well with each other for some reason.
dangle 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I have played with my brother in pick up games. We have very different playing styles so at times its a disadvantage and at times its a good thing. I wouldn't say we read each other's minds or anything, but it is different just playing with him in a pick up game rather than a real game
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 One of my brothers is back home living in belfast, the other in melbourne down under, no matter how I try, I've not been able to hit either with a pass :)

Clark12 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I play with my uncle who is only 3 years older than me. We grew up together so we have a similar kind of bond like brothers have.We usually play on different lines but the odd time that we play together we either play really well or really horrible, theres no middle ground. In an inline game last year I won a face off back to him and then skated towards goal where he fired a rink long pass onto the end of my stick where I was able to tip it into the top right corner of the goal. It was totally unplanned and was a result of us reading each other well but it looked awesome
Jeff 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I'm no superstar, but my bro cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. I doubt we would have any type of connection on the ice to write home about.
WhiskeyTango19 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I have never played with my brother, (seeing as how I don't have one) but I have played with a 'brotha' or two. Word!

I only got into hockey when I moved over here, we surfed and played football (gaelic and soccer) and rugby back home. Hockey is starting to develop in Ireland, but it's not an everyday sport like it is to a lot of people
Konig von Kuhlem 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 My brother and I have the "Sedin connection". When we are on the same line, it seems unfair for the opposing team. We always know where each other is, our passes seem to always be dead on, and we always find a way to put the puck in the net (usually several in spurts)! :D
DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 I connect with my brother when we play against each other. Our games are vastly different which didnt lead to either of us doing well when on the same line. Still, there was a line of both my brothers, we did alright. I think in my case I always grew up with my brothers teaming up on me when I was younger I would much rather give the other team the puck than either of them.Zach
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 I don't have a brother but any one of my best friends and I connect on eachother with no look passes, well honestly, it's more of me to them. In football, my natural position was QB, I read plays well and knew how to adjust to a reciever when they ran an off-route... My build was just not that of a QB, so they put me at LB or FS. I think that has a lot to do with it. What's amazing is I'll make a no-look pass based on what I saw 3 seconds earlier because somehow I remembered that me and my buddy ran a similar play in 2k8 or maybe a game 2 months ago... and I'll make the pass with confidence on reaction, without thinking*. It's amazing how we develop these habits that people that are used to seeing you play know how you'll react to a certain play. I consider it a gift.*By without thinking I mean almost like a muscle memory thing. When I played baseball, I was either a catcher or 2nd base for the most part, occasionally playing outfield. 2nd base was where I played the most and I remember making diving plays and not realizing what was happening until the ball was leaving my hand towards the base. I knew what I had done to stop the ball and to get up but I didn't think to do it, I just did it... Same thing.
