how come toe curves arent retail?

Recommended Posts

im using a pro stock busch laser from a guy named mike maneluk in the siwss league, its 85 flex and the curve is almost a retail ovechkin with a toe curve on the end, and it got me thinking, how come retail curves dont give a toe curve option? because i know a bunch of you guys love the toe curve (TBLfan) and buy the prostocks, but i cant figure out a real reason as to why they wont sell it retail...

anybody got any ideas? :blink::blink:

Chadd, what were some of the old patterns that were toe curves?

Shanny - Easton

Tverdovsky & P10- Bauer

Christian had a toe, forget the name but always saw them on closeout.

The ones that have been available didn't sell well.

It's easy to see why...

Koivu is a nightmare (although not available at retail) what a nasty toe curve...

It's because in NA most players us a heel but there has been a turn towards mid(more recently). Toe curves are more of a Euro thing.

Overall mid curves generally outsell heel curves at retail. A lot of people use Modano clones simply because it is hard to find a small curve or a low lie in any other blade type.

Perezhogin is absolute poetry. I tried to get that pattern in wood tapered blades this season, but according to the Bauer rep here, composite and wood blades are made in a different factory and it was gonna be a major production getting the mold sent over or something. Do love the curve though.

The only real toe curve in a retail pattern was the Shanny, and I think you could see how it didn't sell, the blade is absolutely atrocious! If there was a nice rounded toe toe curve like the pro hossa, I'm pretty sure it would be a great seller.

Tvo was a retail pattern back before composites.

Fury has a nifty little toe curve on the K. Primeau (not Wayne). It's a deep toe, very open. Looks like an ice-cream scooper.

Since hockeygiant has the Fury Diamondbacks on sale (closeout), why not pick one up? They're selling right now for $49.99. Use the discount code FURY0122 and get an additonal 30% off ($35 stick plus shipping? Hard to go wrong).

Very similar to the Niewendyk that Hespeler sold at retail or a toe version of the Sakic.

Quite! Well said, Chadd.

Didn't you once have some custom woodies that were a toe?

The Steve Sullivan pro is a slight heel curve with a hint of curve at the toe as well. The newer versions (D, E) have more curve than the original.

Similar to Inno's Kariya / Hespeler's Roberts?

Less curve all the way around. I'll try and dic up a pic of my "D" and my customs that were based on the "A"

I really want them to make retail to curves as well. The Smyth from Warrior/Inno is a bit of a toe as well. Nothing has the right amount of toe for me though. I know a Kovalchuk retail would be out of the question, but something close would be fine with me. I guess I'll just have to scrap around for various pro stocks and Smyth's for now...
