Which visor to go with?

Recommended Posts

I did a search and I know its PP. But I am deciding between a couple different visors. I liked the pro straight small oakley but it seems like it would be too short. I want a visor that ends at the tip of my nose, and I dont want a really big one. I was looking at the pro aviator, but I am not sure about the big cut in it. Does it help it fogging up that much, it just seems it would look retarded. The other visor I was looking at was the pro straight, but I am worried that it might be too long. I tried measuring it out but you can't be sure unless they are in front of you. Lucky for me there isn't any stores around here where I can just go pick one out, so I have to order online. I guess I am leading towards the pro aviator w/o vents.

i have an oakley pro straight. I love it and it come to just about the tip of my nose maybe a little shorter. I know this may or may not help because everyones face is shaped differently, but I figure I could try and help a little.

other factors are how your helmet fits you and how you mount the visor. so with the disclaimer that it's impossible for us to guess for you, i'd 3rd the pro straight for being about the right height...

the only time mine fogs is if i tilt my helmet up and the visor rest on my head. Other then that no fogging issues. I have had it about a year and still haven't used the AFR spray on it just wanter and a hand towel.

I believe the Itech straight is longer than the Oakley straight small but shorter than the Oakley straight. I haven't worn one in a while but I prefer the straight small as the Itech is too close to my nose.

has any one tryed the under armor visor?

I've seen it at the trade shows and held it up in front of me but there is no way I would ever use it.

I'm leaning towards the pro aviator over the pro straight. It seems like it wouldn't look that bad. Does anyone know which visor is shorter or longer? It seems like they are the same size, only the aviator is cut by the nose? Also is there a problem with the pro straight touching your nose or bothering you at all? Should be the last questions, thanks a lot guys.

I'm using the Pro Modified Aviator, and I really like it. From what I understand, the front-most part at the tip of the nose is the same length as the Pro Straight, but then extends down on the sides. Not sure how the Aviator compares, though.

I have the DX100 on one helmet and the Pro Straight on another.

The Pro Straight looks much better hands down. The DX100 looks like a fishbowl mounted on my helmet. Though I like the extra coverage it offers

A few quick questions:

- How is your vision in the DX100?

- Any differences in your vision b/w the DX100 & Pro Straight?

- Any fogging issues with the DX100? vs. Pro Straight?

I'm really considering the DX100 and would appreciate your feedback. My choices have been narrowed down to: DX100, HS22 Pro Wave or Pro Straight. The Pro Straight (although a great visor) is a distant third because I'm looking for a tiny bit more protection.

Much appreciated!

Vision in DX100 is good - only very slight distortion as you glance to the side. (imagine looking forward, then off to the side without moving your head - then rotating your head slowly to face the direction you were looking) - object size changes slightly, but you very quickly get used to that and you wouldn't notice it.

This distortion is absent in the Pro Straight. However, the pro straight is sized so that you notice the "ending" of the visor at the top and bottom of your field of vision. You don't see that with the DX100.

No fogging issues with either, be it during a game or on the bench. Slight condensation around the nose cut on the DX100 when on the bench, but not noticeable if you're not looking for it.

I've tried on my brother's Pro Wave and I don't like it. It was also mounted on HC100, so it was identical in setup to mine. Distortion is more pronounced than even the DX100.

Coverage isn't THAT much different - an elbow or a stick coming up will still clip your face with either, but won't get your eyes unless you're caught at a real unlucky angle.

Hope that helps!

JCYC5 - Did you try the Itech HS22 Straight? It costs less than the Oakley Pro Straight and I was wondering if the differences between the 2 justifies the price difference. Or if it's the "O" that makes the $20 difference!

I believe the HS22 Straight is slightly shorter than the Pro Straight. Not sure though, someone might want to correct me?

Haven't tried it on myself, so I can't say!

Wolverine, let me know what you decide on! It does interest me. haha :)

have you considered the oakley small pro straight? I was a little hesistant at first, fearing a lack of protection but after usuing the helmet the last 5-6 weeks I'm sold on it.

Great vision, looks great on your helmet, no fogging issues (warm water and a soft towel, no AFR)

Best out there. But yes, you pay a price for no fog due to the cut.
