Memorabilia

Recommended Posts

Currently using a Fury OPS sold as memorabilia. The blade is signed by Keith Primeau. With each taping his name is quickly fading.

7 years ago my team played in the Ft. Lauderdale (it was called the NCRC back then) following the Panthers/ Rangers matinée game. We walked around a little before the game and came across the visiting locker room. The NY Rangers had left an hour or so ago. They left behind tons of tape and Brian Leetch left his mouthguard and its case. Obviously we used the tape which could qualify as memorabilia.

These are gloves I bought from Perani's on close-out about 10 years ago for $60. When they arrived there was a name written in ink on the back side of the cuff roll- "Hull". I believe they were custom for Brett Hull but he never used them. The expanded wrist cuff is custom. I have never seen that on a short cuff Cooper glove. The palms are a tackified black batting glove style leather. I used these gloves just last week. I also use the Vapor XXXX Team Canada gloves from the World Junior Tourney that I won on ebay in January. I bought the gear, might as well use it.

I'm working my way through a pair of J.S. Aubin's Bauer Supremes - I don't think they exactly qualify as top-notch memorabilia, but they made a sweet pair of pads after a few hours of modification.

A Chris Pronger A/C 7100 because I needed a back-up stick that week badly.

That's an incredible twig. I would love to get my greasy paws on some of those.

I still have 4 A/C sticks given to me from when I was a kid. Awesome sticks.

I skate in a pair of CCM pro return Pro Tacks made for Kevin Smyth (Ryan's younger brother).

I took a chance on these. The description in the Ebay auction sounded like these skates would be perfect for me. Extra stiff, shallower toe box, lace bite insert, the whole nine yards. These were brand new, never sharpened, and I got them for $137. At that price, I figured it was worth the risk even if I had to put them back on Ebay and lose a few bucks.

The break in was a little long as these are really stiff skates but these are truly great skates. I skate 3-4 times per week and they are holding up beautifully and feel great. They fit so well that I looked up Kevin's stats and he is the exact same size as me (6' 3" 235 lb.) and we were actually born only two days apart.

When I took them in for a sharpening, the sharpener (who knows skates) looked at me and asked where I got these from? I told him and he was like "yea', I knew these were a lot stiffer than regular skates".

I actually dread having to replace these one day, but for now, they are awesome.

Many years ago I used to play friday night pick up. Occasionally Brian Shanahan would play. Brendan was with Detroit I believe at the time. I remember that Brian used his brothers old skates and Blues gloves. This was before the days of pro-stock sales and Ebay.

Replacing them shouldn't be a problem. Just order Customs and ask for Kevin Smyth's specs from his pro tacks. They will have all the info still there.

Really? It's that simple? Thanks for sharing the information. I doubt I'll get them for under $150, but now that I know it fits, it'll be well worth it.

Thanks.

Wow, it's you! It's a small world.

Yea', those skates worked out wonderfully for me, I really love 'em.

I was going to follow-up with you to let you know how it worked out, especially after you spent so much time patiently answering my questions, but being how this was a simple Ebay auction, I didn't want you to feel like I was stalking you or anything.

If you don't mind, I'd love to know how you got a hold of those. They must have been sitting somewhere for a while since there is a large gap between the time when you sold them from when Smyth retired. If you know the details, I'd love to hear them.

I had a stick used by an ex-Leaf. His name was Kohn. Don't remember his first name. Picked it up after a Leaf game at the ACC in Toronto. They had them on sale in the Hockey Shop there. Had used sticks from Tucker, Kaberle, Gill and McCabe there too but the one I got was exactly my length. Used it in quite a few of my league games and popped a few nice goals with it. Snapped the blade off after is got caught in a space in the boards, at the end of the rink where the Zamboni goes in, a few weeks after I got it. Too bad because it waa a really light stick. The only piece of actual NHL equipment I've actually used in a game.
