Itech X200 "Recon"

no I haven't but it looks like a paintball mask.

Reminds me of the 1Excel mask from a few years back. I forget the name of it. Skeletor or something like that.

I think it was the Jawbone? This could work well, depending on how heavy it is?

oh no the zleader, i used to think thoes were the coolest thing on the block. the no straps locking system seemed like a good idea, but i was too young to ever notice if it sold well. seeing as i work in a shop and havent seen one in years, im assuming they quit producing the hockey aspect of their company? i know they still make swim accessories.

I'd like to see how this shield would hold up after taking a slapshot to the face. To me a cage seems like a sturdier option

Concept II has been around for 30 years. This is the marriage of the Concept II and the FX50.

Yeah, that's it. Jawbone was the official name but we had nicknamed it skeletor around the shop, that's why I was thinking that. I'm gettin' old

The profile is very similar to the z-leader sold by CCM like 10 years ago. I still have it and the airflow and visibility are superb. The Recon shield itself looks like a copy of the old one.

The locking system on the z-leader is kind of weird though. It does not use straps and, at least theoretically, you can pop it open and it should stay open. I personally like it but I understand that many people didn't. As a matter of fact I think that the locking mechanism might have been the cause of its demise. The new one by Itech appears to have a more conventional locking mechanism.

Personally, I can't see with a cage and I can't breath with the Itech II, so I was using half shields before the Z-leader.

After they stopped making the z-leader, I bought 3 of them at closeout a few years ago just not to run out of them.

I was happy when I saw a brief advance on the Recon in THN.

Awright who's fresh on the scene and rocking Recon? I'd like to see this in action. I'll categorize this shield under "Gear that I think is cool, but I'd probably never buy".

am thinking of getting one myself... we'll see how it goes. Hockey anonymous has been kind to me and limiting my purchases... for now

If I remember correctly, Itech bought Z-Leader's molds when they got out of hockey. I want to say it was around 2000....

How does the Recon compare to the Oakley VC920 Combo? I have the x100 and love it and the ability to pop in new shields... Which I think is a big deal since I replace at least one every 6 mos cause of the scratches that eventually get on there... I think with the Oakley it's a whole brand new Visor....

I use it.

It is great.

Visibility is great. No distortion.

No fog due to the nose cut.

Protective, i took a shot to the face and also got tackled and went face first into the ice... nothing.

Honestly the best facial protection i ever used on the ice.

Hate masks, had the older Itech face shields, nothing compares.

Zero distortion, it's light, it's strong. No fog. Breathes very well.

Who cares what it looks like... it's looks are due to function. And it performs as advertised.

On the ice, my fiancee made video of a game this season, it looks like any other Itech mask.

If you are that concerned with "looks" over function... then go ahead with a lesser product. But this is the best shield i have ever used. And if your visor gets scratched, just pop it out and replace it.

I also like the look of it.
