Hockeyman11385 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 I found a really strange looking boot while looking at the NBH website. This may be old, but who knows, still interesting.http://www.flickr.com/photos/26337685@N02/2470797561/
forbs02 20 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 I don't think it has the outsole on it yet. All the extra material will be folded under once it is put on.
DarkStar50 679 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 That is a skate in production. It is very interesting to see skates built from step 1 to final process when they get put in the box with the tissue paper.
joshy207 15 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Vapor XXXX+III. Thick-soled skate. Makes the short guys look taller, hence more attractive to scouts. Not as light as the regular Vapor XXXX, but it's a small price to pay for getting drafted.

It seemed really strange that the toe was so much higher than the rest. Thanks for the clarification. It's interesting to see skates in different parts of production. A2rhino 63 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 It looks like it could easily be turned into a high top shoe. Crazy, but a good find no less.
lampliter87 8 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 Imagine the weight they could save if they trimmed it off instead of folding it under!!!
Gummer12 134 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 But then imagine the Delamination problems that would occur. A FEW grams ain't worth it.

It is very interesting to see skates built from step 1 to final process when they get put in the box with the tissue paper.Unfortunately when I went to St-J the assembly line wasn't running but I got to see a skate in each station. I did get to see the custom ones being made.

jrgretzky99 1 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 There is also a segment on the show "How It's Made". They are building I think a 7000 skate from Bauer step by step. It's pretty cool. I wonder if we could do a search and find it. I'll see what I can come up with.JRHere it is: It looks like a pair of 6500's and I'm sure they are made a lot different now. I guarantee the One95's are a lot different.Enjoy
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Same process but the machine behind the red door (I couldn't get back there) eliminates a few steps shown in that video.
