Nike Bauer one95 with t-blades...pics included

This thread is all about caring about looks over performance! hockeykid is wrongly getting trashed because many don't like the look of his skates. Jagr and OV use yellow wax laces. Which one of you will sit down in the locker room and tell either one of them their skates look fugly? And live to tell about it.

Fashion over function? There is more of it here and at the vendor's end than some may think. The vendor's do it all the time. The high end skate has all the ingredients for performance but those mid and low end price point skates look a lot like the high end model. They remove the high end function of the skate but give it the fashion look of the high end skate on those mid and low price point skates. They also do this in gloves. Anybody see a common thread? These are the two pieces of exposed equipment. Fashion over function.

How many MSHers base their future purchase decisions for equipment based on how it looks here when they see a picture of new product from a catalog for equipment that won't be out for 6 months? Examples: ONE95 skates and Easton helmets are at the top of the list. Either one may not fit but they both pass the mirror test for your average gotta have MSHer. Players come here for knowledge but often enough it is sizzle selling the steak!

I think MSHers typically care more about performance than looks.

i'm not so convinced. i think everyone likes to think that so that don't seem vain. now i haven't been on this site long and im not here everyday, but isn't the "show off your gear" or whatever its titled the biggest thread?

I think this dudes One95's were awesome BEFORE the t'blades and yellow laces. As an owner of One95's, I feel I have to say that what he did to them is really dumb and a waste of money. Just my opinion though.

waste of money? thats a pretty narrow point of view. he bought good boots, pretty much everyone can agree on that. he added tblades because he likes tblades and yellow laces. you may not like tblades but they work for him. so you may think the skates are ugly but to say its dumb and a waste of money is a pretty thoughtless opinion.

Daaaaaaaaaang...haha...I'm toast.

i know.... i like to be different. The t-blades help me because i travel all of the time, and once when i was in Canada at the bell coupe, the guy COMPLETELY ruined my skates. I had to by new skates. The yellow laces, i dont really know. I have been wearing yellow laces my whole life, and dont really wanta switch, because i hate white laces.

But whatever. I am a size 5.... for 13 years old, i have mini feet

Well kid, hopefully in time your taste will grow as will your feet. Thank you for disclosing your age "13" because if you were 18 or older I would have to guess that you would be getting made fun of like no other on this board as well as the ice. But do yourself and NBH a favor and maybe think of black T-BLADES along with black laces if that is what you like.

The kid has a great new pair of skates. Who cares what blades or the colour of his laces.I wouldn't frown on a pair of One/95's myself. By the way I use yellow waxed laces in all my skates and like the way they look. Sporting them in Grafs, Vapors, and Easton 1300C's and loving it. I never have to tighten my laces more than the intial time I put them on because they don't loosen up. Had yellow laces for as long as I remember and I've always replaced the white originals ,I get with the skates ,with with yellow waxed. I think it's the European in me coming out.

What's wrong with yellow laces, a lot of European players use them. For example I know a kid from Finland who says that the yellow wax laces stick tighter.(Which I highly doubt) But sometimes when you are taught something at a young age it sticks with you. Also he said he travels a lot so I think that justifies the T-blades.

performance first. i think whoever makes t blades should call up ccm and bauer and ask for rights to produce blades for e-pros and tuuks rather than continue to sell holders. hardly anyone buys them. my way would make so much money

Always bring extra sharpened steel when you travel. And, if you're as fortunate as some of my old teammates, bring your second pair of skates.

Do you know how T-Blades work?

yup... I'm sure they work but boy they are gross looking

I am a T-blade reformer....as I used them for about 6 months, and then went back to traditional steel. The claims are correct. Longer lasting sharpenings, deep cutting (noisy) and light weight. These are all positive tangibles. The issue that I had was that they felt "vague" compared to traditional when you are not hard on your edges, or gliding. Very little feedback from T-blades as to what your edges are doing unless you are forcing your edges currently. That's my take on them.

i think the yellow laces on those are sick. And the tblades don;t look too bad either. Its just they dont work as good as regular blades imo

i threw up when i saw those skates, ur not supposed to put dumb t blades on plastic skates

I wouldn't classify One95s as "plastic skates". lol

see it pisses me off when people say your retarded for putting something on that you like, and everyone says they suck, but some have never used them, so how would they know if they sucked?

they're idiots. while some may not like your skates because of the looks, they are quality skates and as long as you like tblades and the skates fit good then they are a great skate for you. most the negative comments are just coming from people that don't know anything other than what is trendy and what isn't.

i think the tuuks that came on your skates look better than tblades. however, if i were you and i knew i liked tblades better too, i wouldn't hesitate to put tblades on them. congrats on a nice pair of skates.
