Hockey4Life10 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 I have used the pm9 for a while but i would like to try a curve that would give me more loft on my snap shots. I was wondering if the trasition to a deeper heel like a drury or lidstrom or somethin else would be a huge change in passing, stickhandling and shooting or if it would be similar to the Pm9 but would give me more loft on snap shots. Jarick 5 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 Check out the Warrior Weight. It has a bit of a kink in the mid/mid-toe area and a bit more loft but it's fairly straight and a similar lie. I find it works great for snappers, especially with a whippier shaft.
lampliter87 8 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 A Drury or Lidstrom will add loft to shots not because of the fact it is a heel curve but because of how open they are.
Hockey4Life10 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 I just mentioned those two cuz the pm9 that i was using also is a heel
Warriorsdman 1 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 I thought that in Easton, the Lidstrom was the open heel curve, the Drury was the open mid curve.
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 I thought that in Easton, the Lidstrom was the open heel curve, the Drury was the open mid curve. No, Drury is an open heel wedge (all the curve is in the heel) while Lidstrom is more of a heel hook (lots of curve starting in the heel). Open mid from Easton is Sakic most commonly.Refresh your pattern knowledge with the pattern db in the link bar in the yellow strip at the top of every page. gxc999 7 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 A Drury or Lidstrom will add loft to shots not because of the fact it is a heel curve but because of how open they are.+1. How open a face is usually causes more lift than just the curve. But to be honest, if you're looking at the net while shooting and can't get it up consistently, you need to address the flaws in your technique before buying more gear. I've got the pm9 and still have trouble keeping it down sometimes.
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Going from an 85 to a 75 flex stick with the same curve is causing me to throw everything into the high glass behind the net, gotta go back and work on the shot again. The face on the Drury helps a lot with shot loft though. I can crank them off the crossbar from in the paint. Fun thing to do at the end of skates with all the pucks collected in the back of the net :P
Hockey4Life10 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 thanks for feadback still kinda scared to try drury cuz it looks so different lol

JJStripes 1 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Drury is the ultimate heel curve. Is that supposed to help anyone?I think it is pretty helpful. I really like emotion and passion for the curve. I too share the passion for the drury pattern. A buddy of mine who plays pro hockey gave me some of his sticks, and he uses the drury pattern. It took a little getting used to, but in my opinion and in the opinion of many knowledgeable people drury pattern is the most effective overall. There have been studies done. Cavs019 710 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Seeing as the Coffey is a mid that makes a ton of sense. I'd check out the Nike Bauer P106. (Now the Gagne) It doesnt quite have the loft of a Drury, but it has the gradual curve and lower lie that youre used to with the PM9, and it is certainly more open and slightly deeper. It's a bit deeper than that though, this one is wood and is less deep than the "standard" composite. If only P106 was a 6.5 instead of a 5 lie...JJStripes, what studies have been done to say that the Drury curve is the most effective? Why would that not be the only curve offered if it truly is the best for everything and everyone? In my opinion, and the opinion of many knowledgeable people on this board, each person's technique, skill and style will determine the curve that suits them best. WhiskeyTango19 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 drury pattern is the most effective overall. There have been studies done. Are you for real with that comment? What studies have been done? There can't be ONE most effective pattern for everyone, or else there wouldn't be so many different choices. If there was one most effective, then EVERYONE would use it!!Who conducted these "studies" by the way? Enquiring minds want to know.

Neal 41 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 How would you judge the most effective curve? Most points scored with that curve? Wouldn't Gretzky's curve win every time?
raygunpk 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 You would have to take the total points from users of each curve. So maybe there is a toe curve that many players used and the total points would beat Gretzky.
Fredrik 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2008 This might be the most effective stick.
WhiskeyTango19 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2008 This might be the most effective stick. Even with THAT stick, I'd still whiff on a one-timer.
dnoboy 5 Report post Posted July 26, 2008 This might be the most effective stick. I have to disagree, although a great stick for receiving the puck and getting off one timers I would go with a much smaller blade at least like half smaller for easier maneuvering through traffic. gxc999 7 Report post Posted July 26, 2008 Snappers are shot off the mid to the toe anyway, so what's the benefit of a Drury heel curve?. I too hope it was sarcasm <_<
