Could just be me and my friends, but we've gone from big-time Madden fans to not even buying the game anymore. Just seems like the same old game every year.

Same with me. I used to have the release date on my calender every year, and now, the last time I got it was 2005. I agree, it seems like a lot of the same every year.

Crazy. I didn't know if it was just me or getting older but I haven't bought Madden crack for three years now. NHL and Halo are the only games I ever consider putting in anymore.

That's the way it's been with most games. Unless you get the new systems (PS3 or Xbox 360) most of the game play is the same. Just a few changes in small features. It's almost a waste of money to buy a new game every year.

It's pretty good - my boy got it yesterday.

That Rewind SUCKS...basically it's a mulligan, so if you threw an INT and you have one, you can replay the same play. I hit a 80 yd bomb and he presses Rewind and ended up being an incomplete pass.

I'm going to try and rent it this weekend I think. I thought 2008 was pretty crappy, but this one seems to be a solid upgrade.

Yes, when you have your teams selected, choose advanced controls and you can turn it off, or even go unlimited.

I also severely hate the rewind feature, although it helps to wipe out BS computer magic once or twice a game (All-Madden Voodoo, anyone?).

I actually never played 08 but was hardcore into 00 through 06 on ps2 and 07 on PC. This game found its way into my home today and my initial impressions are favorable as to the gameplay. The video and audio on the PS3 is very good. I can't detect any slowdowns or frame rate issues, which a few people had told me existed in the 2008 version. I could immediately pick up and defeat the comp on All-Pro but their extremely successful blitzes disturbed me at first on All-Madden. Although within a week of nonstop play I could be shelling it, I don't care that much anymore.

I think Madden has had it's heyday. The title announcer is barely in the game at all and there really are no new features for them to add. That's the problem with having 20 iterations of a game, what's left to do? The real problem is that this game has no challenger, so it's the default winner no matter what.

I think the last good Madden was Madden 2005. I borrowed my friends copy of Madden 08 a while back, and it was terrible. The players looked out of proportion, were slow, and it seemed like i was learning an all new game.

Well the concept of the game really can't change, every year it will be a football game and the same with any other sports games.

I've played it a ton the last 4 days and have to say, this game sucks in terms of gameplay. The "fairness feature", aka IQ or whatever it's called has to go. Basically, 8-10 problems ruin what could be an almost perfect game (all-madden level). 1) How anyone can score in the final 2 minutes of a half on all-madden. It's sick 2) Excessive broken tackles of linemen by the CPU, with running backs who are approximately 190 lbs, second stringers, wide receivers, whoever. 3) Lack of awareness for receivers. Human and CPU receivers constantly run out of bounds when they're wide open. They completely fail to adjust on a basic route. 4) the IQ/fairness feature MUST go, it makes all teams approximately equal many times 5) Field goals are far too easy for the cpu, as well as most humans 6) Kicks are still NEVER blocked 7) There are now zero returns for touchdowns. I've played and watch my friends play 40-60 games and seen ZERO. 8) CPU pass completion constantly being at 95%+ and mine 85%+. I could continue like this for a while but you get the idea. I generally agree.

I've played about 20 games all on 'My Skill', zero kick returns for TD, none even close. I don't think I've ever even broken past the 'first wave' of coverage.

Pass defense doesn't work right...when the CPU is passing it seems like the ball NEVER hits the turf. It's either a completion, gets picked off, or is a completion out of bounds. Tipped passes/drops/flat out misses are insanely rare.

Another thing, like every Madden I've ever played pretty much...the TE is still basically unstoppable on pass plays.

Still a pretty fun game though.

One final thing....on the Madden Test type drill where you are the coverage DB and the CPU reciever is running hook routes (goes about 8 yards, turns and comes back to the ball), how THE HELL are you supposed to stop that? I've never done it once, it's impossible because the DB starts too far off the line so that even when you know it's coming it's not possible to make it anywhere near the WR before the ball gets there. I can get All-Madden in every drill except Pass D where am lucky to get out of Rookie.

I have had the same issue on the test, All Madden on Rushing and Rushing D. Full All Pro on passing offense but barely Pro in passing defense. The funny thing is, I can get manual interceptions etc. I'm really hoping EA makes a patch soon because it has some really good features but there are too many glitches. Another thing is the awful, awful receiver AI. It hurts both sides but the computer seems to get it worse than the human player. That's usually the only way I can get them to have incompletions beside picking it off.

This sucks so bad. I used to be a huge football gaming fan and looked forward to the new version every year. Now I haven't bought a football game since 2k5 because Madden gets crappy reviews every year. I was hoping this would be the year EA turns is around because they've done so many great things with their hockey franchise.

Another year of no football :( . At least I can pour most of my time into NHL 09.

I wouldn't say it's crappy overall. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. The half dozen or so nagging issues do take away some of the fun. BTW, I got my IQ to 667 now and the game makes itself very difficult. Any slight mistake and the CPU capitalizes. However, oddly enough, both sides are fumbling less, except for my QB!
