just sayin what the rule allows for. plus that measurement is heel to top of shaft, excludes blade. There's another few inches right there, dependeding on his lie.

I read that he has an exception to the maximum stick length of 63". So 63"+.

Somebody should get him an Oggie.

The exception permits 3" beyond the 63" rule, so, legally 66" but if he had a slightly longer stick nobody'd be a big enough dick to measure it.

Last year when i was working at my rink the bruins came and practiced there and i helped out the EQ guy to make sure no one came and stole sticks and didnt bother him.. and Chara's Stick was taller than i am by a good bit. im 5 foot 9 so i would imagine all together his stick is at least up to his chin which you figure is about 6 foot 5 inch mark without skates.. you can do the math for when he wears skates and how high it could potentially be

I kind of want to use a stick that long just to see how it feels

He also looks like he's using a two piece setup with a fairly long blade hosel- I wonder if they count that.

ye he uses a two piece...he mentioned it in the slapshot comp. S15 or whatever the shaft number is....and i thought the max length was 63" but i remember reading on ebay those pro stocks some were 70" some were 66" and i'm pretty sure the dude wasn't lying....did they change the rule or something?

at 6'5" that would make his stick 14" taller than the next tallest/regualtion size stick...woah

it counts heel to butt end.

There's a stipulation that you may apply for an exception. Chara is the only person with the exception granting him 66" instead of 63" read the thread.

(as a side note, i think some kid is coming up that probably would be granted the exception as well)

Keep an eye out for Gonchars skates tonight. I posted a BAD pic from my TV of his skates he was wearing when he started practicing again and nobody could really tell what they were. I saw them a few more times and I am clueless as to what they are. Maybe some kind of Grafs?

Found the pic...

He was using SE's at the start of the season, with an occasional ONE95, and was in Europe last year so I doubt it. Just found it odd, Alberts was using his yellow Bruins' XXXXs his first few weeks with the Flyers, but Metro's yellow S17s came out of nowhere.

They said tonight on the FSN Pittsburgh broadcast that the skates are a custom setup from some "friends" of Gonchars, thats the reason that you see no logos or anything because I guess they haven't paid the 50k fee to the NHL. Bob Errey, the Pens color guy, said that the skates were "ridiculously stiff" and that they were made custom for Gonchar because he had difficult finding skates that were stiff enough for his liking. He also made a mention to Paul Coffey, but I wasn't sure if he was saying Gonchar wears them super small like Coffey did or it was something else, I didn't quite catch it.

He used SE's most of last season in Boston, but I do recall a yellow S17 later in the year... they probably made the trip with him.

Officially - no - it is part of Bauer's marketing campaign to keep it under wraps

Someone leaked one in October and we've taken a stance to not show it on MSH

JR or anyone else that would like to answer, don't you think that Bauer missed out on a great opportunity to re-release their brand. I mean, based on the pics that have floated around and the negative images in the cat. the X:60's look ALOT like the XXXX. Bauer changes the name of the vapor line, loses the swoosh, and comes out with basically the same product. IMO and from a marketing perspective they missed the boat here. I'd love to hear your guys thoughts on this.

It's just an evolution of the line. The skate has done well for them - no need to rock the boat. When you start changing designs drastically every cycle, it is perceived that you're trying to make consumers forget about the last model.

From the pic I seen it does look exactly the same. From marketing its horrible to "hide" your product and unheard of. Anyone not on this board or totally nuts over equipment has no clue about the skate OR the Nike Bauer will be no longer...

Way to create buzz about your new product...

They are set to put out teasers. I thought they would've started already but I guess not...

Plan is for skate to roll out in NHL in April during playoffs. The guys using the X:60 in XXXX skins now will then have no problem transitioning into the X:60.
