Yes, he's wearing the visor because he got hurt during the lockout.

i think heatley's crash in atlanta reminded him of what can happen if you don't protect yourself.

good for him!

I have the same problem (permanently dilated pupil), but it's my right eye......took a dart in the eye at age 5. I wear a cage full time, even in roller. I used to wear a visor back in the day but decided beer league hockey and only one working eye wasn't worth the risk.

not saying that incident didnt remind him of that cause well never know, but im pretty sure he switched the visor after he took a puck to the eye when he was playing in europe during the lockout

That's correct. That's why he has the one pupil that is permanently dilated.

i meant "good for him" as in good he's concerned about his own safety by wearing a huge visor! give me a break, jeez

But the fact remains...the big visor came after his eye injury in Europe...not after the car crash. So, bringing it up has no barring on this topic. That said...let's move on.

I saw a few one95s last season and I think I saw a S15. Personally, I think they should be in all black skates... Too bad not too many companies are jumping at the chance to get their skates on ref's feet or maybe they would black out some skates.

I honestly don't know why they are being soo lax with the referee skates right now.

umm, because officials belong in properly fitting skates just as everyone else. They cant help it if the skates arent black. It's what's out there, and it's what fits.

You mean Grafs aren't the solve-all best fitting most comfortable skate ever made? News to me.

naw, i mean you're an idiot. if you're allowed to be a prima donna about your gloves and skates, i figure the guys getting paid the big bucks to officiate deserve to be in a skate they feel comfortable doing their job in.

Grow up.

I never said that they didn't deserve to have their choice but I didn't believe they were allowed to based on rules, just like the all white laces.

I know at least for the association I ref with we are required to wear some sort of white laces (pure white are suggested, but at least the white with black). We're not allowed to wear yellow laces. Also we have to have black helmets. I'm not sure how it works in the NHL, but I would imaging they have some fairly specific rules about dress, on and off the ice. (I would assume)

There's a big difference between lace color and skate color. A lot of jackass officials will give you a hard time if your skates aren't black but those guys really need to get a life. I've been a ref for ten years and there are a lot of idiots in stripes.

Agreed. I've reffed for 9 now, and know very few officials (even high up) that have entirely black skates. And I'm personally not going to let officiating decide my skate color. That's ridiculous.

It's not a rule, they can wear whatever they want.

Yes, I was already corrected on that by darkstar.

Ha, but you should've realized that puck_it was messing with you. :)
