Longoria just should have let that ball go. At least it's good to know Philly didn't go for the obvious and chant "Eva" every time he came to the plate.

It looked like it did have a chance to roll foul, and given the resulting throw that would have been the better play. The Eva chants did stop after his first AB but don't give Philly fans too much credit, someone threw a stinkbomb onto the ice during the Flyers/Devils game.

They were chanting "Eva" for every at-bat.

The calls this series have been pretty bad. A missed balk, a missed pickoff, bad check-swing calls, missed call at first, seems like they're trying to one-up eachother. Ah well, it's all part of the game.

At least I won't have to see that god-awful hunting cap that Maddon's wearing for that much longer. I don't see why he doesn't start Price because obviously he won't have a shot at closing anything in this series with the hamburger their pitchers are throwing.

I'm willing to bet that there won't be a delay. That being said, what miserable fucking conditions to be playing baseball in. Being out in the field and trying to keep your hands in working condition to catch and throw the ball well is pretty tough when it's that cold and rainy.

Because of the World Baseball Classic, I believe next year's WS is scheduled to go into the first week of November. MLB had better hope for a Texas-Arizona tilt if it wants to avoids nights like tonight.

Like the announcers said, this takes MLB off the hook BIG TIME. If the Rays lost it due to a rain delay, who knows what would have happened.

Why do you think they kept playing so long? Any other game would have been delayed much earlier.

Yeah I agree, I saw them playing until it was finished or this happened. I was going to post earlier and agree with Lkpttiger about them not delaying it. Just got too busy doing laundry.

Pussies, I've played in snow. That said, that looked like crap and it's going to suck not seeing if Hamels could have finished it off and sealed up the MVP.

Don't think Cole will throw an inning or so tomorrow night (should the game be played)????

I know it's better for the game itself, but kinda weak how they waited until TB tied the game up....

They're saying that it may be more likely for the game to resume Wednesday, tomorrow's weather is supposed to be worse than it was today. The game never should've gone as far as it did before being suspended. And what's with the Maddon love-fest? He was on camera about 30 times during game five.

Being the WS, possibly, but even then I doubt it.

Well, here's hoping for a Wednesday continuation to Game 5, and that the weather holds out.

Hamels threw 75 last night, so if his arm is good on 2 days rest to throw maybe 20-25, do 3-6 outs if he can, that's be nice.

If not, we can always go Madson, Romero, Lidge to shut the Rays down.

we just need to score, though.

Looks like Selig wasn't going to call the game anyways...even though it was official, apparently he was going to basically create a new rule and simply 'delay' the game until it could be completed.

So what would have happened if the Rays homered and went up by one to end the sixth? Would the game have gone on?

I was talking to a co-worker here in Philly and he was pissed the Phils didn't get the game in the fifth, I was surprised MLB doesn't have a rule on the books about weather delays for playoff games.

I think the worst issue about the whole thing is the fact that the Phillies had to take the field in the 6th, when the conditions were at their absolute WORST, and play that inning. They misplayed a few balls, and Tampa ties the game. Shouldn't the Phillies have the same opportunity to take advantage of the weather?

meh, I'd rather them not get hurt, but the game should have been stopped before the 6th even started, period.
