Helmet disappointment for those with oval-shaped heads

Recommended Posts

This past weekend I headed down to my LHS to look for a new helmet. Currently wearing a Bauer 8000, which I love because of the little sliders on each side, which help the helmet fit PERFECTLY to my oval-shaped head. I hate when helmets wobble on my head. I found out that the new Bauer 9000 does not have these sliders, so it wobbled on my head. Ditto for the top-of-the line Easton. I really liked the liner on the Mission Intake (found it incredibly comfy), but again, because of my stupid head shape it wobbled side-to-side. Only helmet I didn't try was the RBK 8K, but i'm assuming that's going to wobble, too.

Am I the only hockey player with a non-round head??????

Ugh..................

Might want to give the CCM Vector V08 a shot. I just picked one up and expected it to be wider than my old Bauer but it was surprisingly snug in the width department. It's real comfortable, pretty light and well ventilated and didn't wobble at all like my old bauer did. It has a combination of the old foam padding and the black padding (don't know the technical names off hand), but they give a nice secure fit that's not too stiff. Might be worth a shot to throw one of them on the old noggin to see how it feels. Good luck.

I would give CCM a shot. I've been using the HT2 for years and it fit my head fine. I just bought a NBH 5500 and it still would fit an oval head fine, but there's a bit more room on the sides compared to the HT2.

Same problem here. I ended up getting the NBH 8500. Ugly as heck, but can't argue with fit.

as much as it kills me to say this.. you could try the cascade because it is an elongated helmet... you can also give the old school 4000 of 4500 a try cuz it is a tight fit. shuoldn't wobble
