Beflar

Compression shorts/jock combo etc

Recommended Posts

I wear the mess shorts with jock combo. Does anyone have the compression shorts with jock combo?

Do they help or do they just cut off circulation? Usually I hate tight equipment because it feels like your being smothered when you are trying to catch your breath etc.

Anyone have these?

I bought the Under Armor compression jock and the begging of this season and love it. The only thing I did was swap out the cup from my old jock. The Under Armor one just felt weird.

I used a Shock Doctor for a couple years. It did give a lot of support, but the cup would never stay in place properly and it was too small around the waist for a guy who's out of shape. I picked up a WSI one this year and it's much better, although it doesn't compress as much.

I had the SD-too tight and runs smaller in size than recomended. The Itech fell apart after two machine washings. I'm still rocking 2 different WSI -one garter and one velcro and am getting good mileage from them.

I have to agree w/Jarick as the WSI is less snug than most. I prefer them because they keep my legs/hammies warm and they're not too tight.

edit: I also agree w/poster below re: SD. The suspension system does leave a bit to be desired.

To the OP-if you find it cuts off blood flow, try a size larger.

I have a Shock Doctor compression jock. For the most part, it's good, although I still find myself wearing a pair of boxer briefs under the things. The bottom part of the cup doesn't hold itself too well to the bottom of your junk. Found out the hard way, I played one game without the briefs on and I fell on my stomach. The damn cup pinched my nuts...

Yeah that was the big thing. I took a direct hit to the boys a couple times and the cup would just make sure both of them got hit instead of dispersing the impact. The WSI cup is flatter and easier to put into position.

I start to use a Easton long compression pants + jock.

Really good, better than I expect. it has a strap to the cup to hold the position. I used some Itech shorts before but the cup just not close to the body enough.

personally i wouldn't suggest the compression short jocks.... frequently they tear or warp depending on your body type, and that can lead to a brutal fit. for anyone having any hip flexor/groin strain issues, go with a "bike brand" compression short and throw a basic mesh jock or garder belt over top. you'll notice a world of difference.

I use the mission ones, and aside from it not fitting my waist perfectly, it fits my thighs great, and it works great, not restrictive at all, yo just need a little getting used to.

I've use the Itech for years, no complaints at all.

The compression part of the short is not really very tight so it's not gonna give a lot of support.

For me it's more about not liking the loose shorts than needing compression shorts.

Anyone use the Reebok 9K compression shorts? Or the 6K? I tried the 6K on in the recommended size and it felt a little tight. I'de like some groin support so I was wondering if this is the way to go.

I have a pair of these and swear by them. Totally comfortable and the cup stays in place. The added bonus is the extra tailbone pad.

I was starting to have problems with my groin as well and I had a doctor recommend a compression type short. I went from the loose style Under Armour to the Warrior Nut Hut and I love it.

I have the shock doctor with that extra elastic for groin support. As I've had a few groin and hammy issues they've been helpful. I'm fine with the cup, never been hit. I like to wear a thin under armour or nike pro base layer under them.

I use the Mission compression jock shorts. I switched the cup out though, cause it was AWFUL. They went with a sleeker, light cup, but it doesn't even fit my, ahem, yeah. It is REALLY narrow, and not that long. Gonna buy another Shock Doctor soon. All in all though, the compression shorts jock is 100 times better in my opinion, It isnt even close.

been in the 9k for many months. work fine, like better than the shockdoctor. But, for the groin support, neither are enough in my case, I ended up using Benik g-100 wraps. No more groin problems. Yea, some flexibility is lost, but well worth it (IMO)

How bang on is the size charts when it comes to the compression shorts? I was thinking about ordering online.

And on a side note, when it comes to compression shorts (shorts only/no jock) meant for other sports/exercise besides hockey, how do you find them?

thx

So I picked up a pair of the Reebok 9K compression shorts. I didn't really notice it in the store when I tried them on, but the bottom pointy end of the jock kind of sits in between the legs a little making it feel a little uncomfortable. Is this normal?

I recently bought the Bauer Vapor Elite compression jock... used it one game, not bad, but I learned the hard way that you need to wear some kind of compression short under it (I will use UnderArmour), as they have different materials running in different palces which caused minor discomfort.

When sitting down the cup also pinched my bag.

Also the velcrow straps angle in when I put the shorts on.

Other then that, it worked fine.
