New referee jerseys

Recommended Posts

i could get used to the striping pattern... the arm bands are rather ridiculous.

I wish they had kept the zipper. It's not like Mick McGeough is reffing anymore.

No Nameplates?

Been quite a few years since the names were removed.

Even though they say CCM, it looks like they were designed by Reebok to match the team jerseys...

It's the same company. CCM is the referee on-ice brand. Before that, it was JOFA when CCM/KOHO was on the players.

Edit: Found the actual text:

"In addition to the introduction of new officials jerseys, the jerseys that will be worn by the Eastern and Western Conference NHL All-Stars will include Reebok's patent-pending Smoothfit™ performance name and numbering technology, which allows players to move more efficiently on the ice and will contribute to improved moisture management. The Smoothfit™ performance name and numbering technology eliminates up to 35 percent of the weight inherent to the traditional name and numbering system, which in many cases, includes multiple layers of twill."

Great marketing...it is cheaper to make and will cost more at retail! Sublimated jerseys are great!

Saw that yesterday on NHL.com, they look ok for me, kinda resemble the NFL type.

How much did twill lettering weigh? Reebok designers seem even more gram-conscious than the worst MSH member.

what no #87 crosby patches? surely this is some oversight ... :D

And back on track i think they look good. Not like they needed a tweak but whatever makes those refs happy.

Nashville - entire jersey (logo/numbers) is sublimated twill. Other teams in the league have done the lettering at some point over the past couple of years.

Wow- I'm kind of disgusted. I can stand a sublimated stripe on the refs. But is this the end of a tackle-twill jersey? There is nothing like my game used Northeastern jersey or the Eaves authentic I've got when it comes to replica jerseys... I'm kind of sick of Rbk cheeping out and charging more money.

Wasn't Reebok's decision.

Reebok doesn't supply the teams with a lettering kit, the team sources that out. In NSH's case, one of the companies that does lettering also does sublimation.

On a jersey that light, the multiple layers of twill makes it heavy, and puts more stress on the jersey because it's sewed on over and over again.

The best part is, you can't even notice. FULLY sublimated - down to the "stitches."

* deleted pic *

they should just stitch it once and make it the "new" look or go to full sublimation like the euro teams use, no twill at all

personally I'm okay with it

That Anaheim number I posted is one piece of twill. The stitches/layers are sublimated. Once applied to the jersey, it will only be stitched once.

On a standard tackle twill setup, it would be three twill layers - gold, white and black, either sewn directly to the jersey (looks better that way as it won't bubble) or sewn separate then stitched once to the jersey.

I really don't get the hatred of sublimated jerseys. I absolutely love my Lutch Moscow White Bears' jersey - easily the best-looking one I own.

That's one of the reason why I like Euro jerseys.

You REALLY have to look to tell the difference between a sublimated piece of stretch twill, like on NSH's jerseys. They're slick, less work and less tearing since you don't have a stretchy jersey with a 3-layer patch that doesnt stretch.
