Why so many Warrior sticks

Recommended Posts

What is so special about Warrior sticks and why do more and more pros keep moving towards this stick? I haven't seen this since the Easton Synergy first came out.

Quick turnaround.

To clarify what that refers to, it's that Warrior has a very quick turnaround on custom orders for pros. If they want something, Warrior makes sure they get it very quickly. Other companies may have better products, but Warrior has better service.

They will also do just about anything for them, no stipulations... ie Use our gloves/pants if you want us to make you some sticks.

You also have to give a lot of credit to their pro reps.

And it's not just sticks, it's gloves too. At least it is for the Devils, I think about half of them use Warrior gloves. Shanahan, Holik, Elias, Clarkson, Langenbrunner, Martin, White, Salvador, Mottau, Pandolfo all use Warrior, with the rest split between Easton, Mission, and possibly one or two other brands (don't know what one or two guys use).

It goes in waves. If you notice some teams are heavy in Easton, some in Nike/Bauer, some in Reebok/CCM, some in Warrior... those trends have more to do with the EQM and pro reps than the actual product.

I was JUST talking with someone about this and how much RBK/CCM gear was being used for the 03/04 Lightning. :)

Specifically, as mentioned, New Jersey with Warrior, and the Flyers are heavily dominated by Nike Bauer. I mean Hell, they even got Briere to jump ship from Easton at the beginning of the season.

I noticed that too, a lot of Easton on the red wings last year, and now it seems like several guys made the switch to Warrior Franchise gloves all of a sudden. Wonder if Hossa has anything to do with that.

Guys on the team were wearing Warrior before Hossa showed up.

Inno/warrior has always been strong with Det. I thought that someone said at one time that Draper had some investment in Inno.

Yea because Lindstrom is also going from Easton to Warrior now, and I guess there were some sorta influence going on with Draper as well, because his blade pattern has been around forever for warrior.

Anyway, it's all business... something we couldn't really put in our 2 cents to change anyway

Warrior is based in Michigan, so that would explain the growing popularity in Detroit. Also younger players are more apt to accept the extremely trendy marketing and graphics. So with each surge of young players that enters the NHL each year, the overall acceptance of the sticks will be greater. This will also affect the older players' opinions of the product. My 2 cents.

Same goes for the Flyers. Just about everyone is using Bauer. There are a couple that aren't, but 95% of the team does.

The Coyotes are 98% Warrior sticks and gloves. (Rhino/Mo/Jovo still repping Eagle gloves)

I am still floored Doaner made the switch to Warrior from CCM.

i know the pro rep (nbh) that has the central div and the fla teams. i second what tblfan said and the rep from nbh agrees. warrior has the quickest turnaround time. also when warrior was innovative they focused on the pros and retail second. not to mention they made all of bauer's pre xxxlites. so when warrior came into the picture inno maintained thst focus on he pros. btw al iafratie is now repping for warrior since black beauty went under.

Actually, the Sabres are incredibly varied with their equipment. A lot of guys have recently gone with Warrior Franchise gloves and Dolos, but I don't really count Teppo Numminen since his Montreal company was bought out by Warrior so he is basically reaping the benefits from his sale. Most of the rookies get RBK gloves and Bauer 4500 helmets, but most guys on the team wear the V08 bucket, even though CCM is really underrepresented in the glove and stick department (only Pominville uses CCM sticks and gloves).

For a while there it seemed like you had to wear Tackla pants to play for the sabres.

Product quality is not very different from one brand to another so service is often the determining factor. Warrior does have aa very cool bit of software that helps determine the optimal flex and kickpoint on sticks.

Elaboration?

What's to explain?

Warrior has the deep pockets of New Balance behind them and they are in growth mode. More than Michigan based, they are Metro Detroit based so you know they are hanging around the Wings as much as possible and they probably have Wings stopping by for input on equipment.
