ktang 34 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I hope you get it back in reasonable shape; it's a PITA getting a car on short notice, and insurance doesn't give full value for your car (in Canada, at least).
Jarick 5 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 My gf's car got stolen a month ago. Car was damaged and insurance company called it totaled, but their reimbursement check was way under the value of the car and the loan balance, so we're going back and forth. Not fun at all. juiced 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 i was in a hockey camp with a guy last summer and while we were on the ice someone stole his keys and then stole his brand new 08 jetta i think it was. he had just bought the day before. it was his first car that he'd ever owned too. +1 to the "i hate thieves" part. 15yearsofhistory 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 For some reason I knew it was some year of civic. I don't know why people would want to steal one. I mean I guess they're alright, but you could go out and find way better haha.

I mean I guess they're alright, but you could go out and find way better haha.Yeah, but the 1.6 DOHC in it is perfect for guys with older hatchbacks, CRXs. There's a big demand for them.Time to start looking for a replacement.Your car has already been stripped of everything and sent all around the world.I used to be heavily involved in this type of stuff, just not on the end of the 'stealing' part. Complicated, but I actually had a chat with some friendly neighborhood FBI agents in 2001... <_<

Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 I hope you get it back in reasonable shape; it's a PITA getting a car on short notice, and insurance doesn't give full value for your car (in Canada, at least).Simply put most insurnace companies will pay you the sum insured (how much you've told the company its worth) or the market value; whichever is less. Cars do depreciate and its always the customer's responsibility to update the sum insured each year. What this generally means is a lower premium plus a realistic expectation of what the car is worth in real terms. So in a nut shell, save yourself some bucks and get your car valued. This will leave more money for X60's or burritos.
sitzlejd 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Don't really know what I want... I'm thinking truck or mid-size suv, Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Xertra. Or somthing in that area. Any ideas?I got a Nissan Frontier Crew Cab ('03) last year and I've really liked it. The truck has a full-size bed so it's basically an Xterra with a truck bed. It really comes in handy for trips and with the locking tonneau cover on the bed it's perfect for storing my hockey gear w/o stinking up the cab. Plus I really like the styling with the gear rack on top. I haven't had a single problem so far (knock on wood). For my money Nissan is a great brand; lots cheaper than Toyotas but just as reliable. My whole family drives them from me to my mom (Maxima) and my dad (Murano). Good luck with your decision! This pic here is exactly like my truck, except mine is silver :D Not the best review but if you look around it gets high marks from others.http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com...an-frontier.htm

Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 Don't really know what I want... I'm thinking truck or mid-size suv, Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Xertra. Or somthing in that area. Any ideas? If you're thinking of going that route and you don't put a ton of miles on your car, take a look at the FJ Cruiser. Very convenient for hockey bags and there are some great deals to be found. You just aren't going to get much more than 20 MPG under any circumstances.
