KC83 2 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 xaero604, i think you mean green Bthe blue B is for the figure skating, and red B is the indoor soccer..i just don't like that facility... i would rather go skate at the new UBC rink (olympic ice) i love the lighting at that rink, and the ice is getting better
JohnnyCanuck 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 The best part of that facility is that it provides shelter when we are playing soccer next door and it's pissing outside.
HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 All the ice here is pretty good. Some of the multi sheet rinks can be decent, but there aren't too many places here with bad ice.Ice Sports Burnaby 8 rinks is what you are talking about. The Planet Ice Delta (GPF) is right off the hwy towards Vancouver from the border (no more than 20 minutes from either Blaine Border Crossing)I will put you down on the "interest list"Yeah Burnaby 8 is the one I'm thinking of. It's crazy how much cheaper ice time seems to be in Vancouver/Canada. Here in WA it's generally around $350 for an hour of ice time. Anything under $200 for an hour is a steal.Going to Vancouver would give me an excuse to hit up The Hockey Shop and Sports Exchange again. The Hockey Shop's amount of gear was incredible, and the pro stock selection at Sports Exchange was ridiculous. I've been itching to go back up there and spend money I don't need to spend. xaero604 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 whoops, my bad hahai just know that it's the side with 4 rinks that has decent ice but gets progressively worse as you walk further down.how much is it at the new olympic rink?

JR Boucicaut 3803 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 Thats hilarious, I was just in Novi a month ago. Ended up at the rink of course, but only because the GPS said thats where Perani's was.Chadd, we'll definitely give enough lead time.Keep in mind Planet Ice Coquitlam has only two sheets in Summer. That was my old store/rink, reason why it says Perani's is because Perani's used to be in there. That's the rink where the Zamboni blew up at.Would love to make the trip, but alas, not in my budget.
nazzy19 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 If it is in the Metro Vancouver area, I definitely don't mind coming out!

To think I was in the hockey shop of a legend..Disappointing its not in your budget JR, but understandable. Perhaps we can schedule around a lightning game in vancouver...(assuming you make the trip with them every now and then?)As for ice last I'd heard the Canucks no longer use 8 rinks (and its Blue A everyone was thinking of, first rink on the right side. They had their parking right outside it in that gated area). I've played at the new UBC ice rink and while its a great facility it is super warm inside and not sure about accommodations for after. I play my spring their so I can inquire about ice rental. For me it doesn't really matter where the time is, I'll find a way to be there. My spring leagues play out of UBC and the ice sports north shore, and I live in Coquitlam. Really excited to see if we can get this going, could be a lot of fun. Hopefully one year we could throw a huge game/get together. Be like our own star trek convention, but obviously way cooler.

mickz 107 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 I'd be down for a skate whether we get jerseys done up or not. MSH Squadron game, Vancouver version. Planet Ice in Delta is a bit far for me but if it's just this one time I don't think it'll matter that much. I'd prefer to play somewhere close to home if possible, R.I.C. or 8 Rinks. I wouldn't mind GM Place either, I've skated there before and it was superb... but I've always wanted to play hockey on that ice.I know a guy who works for the ASHL at 8 Rinks, I'll see what his staff rates are and how early we'd need to book in advance to get a cheap price. westcoastsniper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Hey, I'm also in Vancouver (Metro, false creek area) I would love to play some puck on any of the rinks (although I gotta say, I don't dig burnaby 8 rinks, shitty ice). You could go to one of the community rinks, Sunset is a good rink and with 30 guys I'm sure we'd save enough money to buy more than a few adult pops each, and Brittannia is closed until mid april or something but also a good rink. What about Richmond Ice Zone?but yeah, I'm totally down for an ice time and I could probably bring a couple of good guys to fill up the roster if needed. JohnnyCanuck 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Updated,Now have 14 interested, probably need a minium of 20, maximum of 30, so we are at least half way there or more.Do we have any goalies in the group named in the first post? Thanks for the recommendations guys, keep em coming. I will review them all to gauge where most requests are coming from and look to place the icetime as close to the majority of folks as possible.

srv2miker 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 I'd totally be in. Unfortunately I have no sweet connections for getting us ice-time. But, I'm sure I could get a graphic designer from work to do up a bitching crest for the jerseys (if they go ahead).

westcoastsniper 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Adult Rentals (Hourly Rate)Monday-Friday 5:00 am - 8:00 am 65.65Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm 95.80Monday-Friday 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm 251.35Monday-Friday 11:00 pm - 5:00 am 131.15Saturday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm 251.35Saturday 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm 201.50Sunday & Stat. Holidays 7:00 am - 11:00 pm 251.35Saturday & Sunday & Stat. Holidays 11:00 pm - 7:00 am 131.15So those are the hourly rates for the community centers in vancouver of which there is only Sunset, Kitsilano and Britannia (starting June 1st). If we were up for it 11pm-1 am would be ten dollars more than if we got and hour of ice at prime time, of course that would mean being able to stay up past midnight, which I know some married lads are unable to do ;) ^_^ Ice time at prime time (251.35) @ 20 dudes means we pay just over 12.50 each, that same time with 30 dudes = 8.37. That's a screaming deal if you ask me, allowing enough money in these dire economic times to get a few wobbly pops down the hatch and have a good laugh. Hell, if we get thirty guys and we all pitch in ten bucks, that gives a surplus of 48 bucks, which can go towards buying a flat of beer (or more likely two 15 packs of pil). So yeah, that's about all my feeble brain can come up with this glorious sunday.
furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 No way, a screaming deal is the 5:00 in the morning ice time! 65.65 is just over $2 a player! for 12 bucks we get six ice times! Almost have a little "best of" series!
Duder84 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 I'd be up for it if its not a wednesday nightAny rink is fine with me, I live pretty central to all the areas, though I do have to say, 8-rinks has crappy ice. What about Bill Copeland? Its right next door to 8-rinks and last I checked has way better ice.

Hey if you guys want to rent the ice out at 5 am, who am I too say? it would probably be the best way to spend a morning to tell you the truth and I'd be the first to the arena cause that would be awesome.!!Anyway, keep the community centers in mind because they're central in vancouver and easily accessible from the rest of the GVRD.
