Kobe 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2004 Helmet: Bauer 4000. Only helmet that fit my head at the time of purchase. I'm probably going to get one of the newer helmets soon though.Visor: Itech HLC. It's alright. It gets pretty low on my face so it's pretty good since I don't wear a mouth guard. Vision is ok but not great.Shoulders: old school Coopers. I need maximum mobility so these old school type shoulder pads are the only ones that work for me.Elbows: Jofa 8025s. I can't stand bicep protectors. These are light and mobile.Pants: Tackla 4000s (SMU). Basically the 5000s without leg zippers. A steal at $100 cdn.Shins: Bauer 1000s. Good enough.Skates: Bauer Vapor 10s. There's a reason why guys like Naslund and Blake stay with these skates.Shaft: 8-5 Bio Mission Flyweight. I started using this while I was waiting for my 10-7 meta flyweight to arrive (to replace the one that I broke) and I've been on a 11 game scoring streak since. It's still probably the lightest tapered shaft on the market next to the r2xn10. Durability and performance is excellent.Blade: Pro stock composite inno/easton (they're completely unmarked) long hosel tapered blade. Easily the best blade that I've ever tried. Very stiff and very durable. I bought 3 of them and I'm still on my first one after about 4 months of use.Gloves: Bauer XV. Most comfortable glove I've ever tried. Fits tight on the back of the hand and has a very mobile wrist area. Fantastically priced as well. Best retail glove currently on the market right now imo. Visor is OK, but not great.Shoulders: noneElbow Pads: Jofa 8066 - excellent protection, but maybe a little to bulkyShin Pads: Jofa 8090's - again, excellent protection, but why can't they add another strap?Gloves: CCM 852's - I like them a lotShorts: Bauer shorts with Nike ticks. Don't know what they are.Skates: Vector Pro'sSticks: Mission M1, but I prefer my Vector shaft with CCM 1052 bladeInline Gear:Helmet: Jofa 690Elbows: CCM 852 (last year's blue ones) - great elbow pads - very comfortable, good protection, dry out quickly. Like them better than my Jofa 8066's.Shins: CCM 852 (last year's again) - very comfortable, but not as protective as my Jofa's.Gloves: CCM 852'sGirdle: bilt-rite works girdle - great protection, but a bit bulky. Like the wrap around system though.Pants: Hyper Steel (2003 model) - light, but falling apart easily. Best pants were the old straight black CCM Edge 4.3 pants. Syven 501's OK, but a bit heavy.Skates: CCM Mavericks - serving me well. Might look at the new Heliums or the Vector inlines next year, but these are holding up wellSticks: Vector shaft with 1052 blade, Tri-flex shaft with Franklin 9006 blade. Prefer the Vector slightly, but it could just be the blade.

Edge 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 (edited) HELMET: Bauer 8000 black: Best helmet out right now imo. Great adjustability, 3 ways. Comfortable, looks great to me.CAGE: Jofa 480 Black: Best vision and looks the best.CHIN CUP: Bauer 8000 Dri-Fit chin cup, comfy, stays dry.SHOULDERS: Itech 775 THG. Very protective, but are still lightweight, and fairly low profile. Seem to be holding up very well too. ELBOWS:Nike THG ProSTK Elbows(between v10s and v12s), Awesome mobility, they stay put with that grippy printing, comfortable, and protective.SHINS: Bauer 8000. Unbelievable pads. Removable inner pad, very comfortable and cushy on the inside. Great calf protection, Wrap around strap on top to make them as tight as you want, as well as a pad on that top strap to keep the strap from digging into your leg. A little bulky for some, but i don't mind. They have good protection.PANTS: Easton 04 Air. Used Air pants for a while now and still love them. Good mobility. Have a nice lower back protection with the Gen 4 air pad thing. Awesome BioDri liner too. Comfortable, and i like the twobelts on them, instead of one.GLOVES:Bauer Vapor XX. XXs are great off the shelf, nearly no break in time. They have great protection, arent' too heavy, and are very flexible. You can adjust the cuff also to be tighter or very loose. flexible fingers too.SKATES: Vapor XXs with nonperfed steel. Bauer 8090s to come if XXXs aren't anything special. XXs are nice, but the 8090 fits my foot a little better. They hold up longer than XXs, and are a tad lighter. I've heard great things on them.UNDERGEAR: Underarmour loosegear longsleeve black. Underarmour socks, and I hope to get the Shockdoctor loose jock system soon. Mouthguard: Edge mouthguard Edited October 8, 2004 by Edge
joshy207 15 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 -Helmet... Itech HC95. Very comfortable, good look, great fit.-Cage... Itech 909 RBE IX. This one never hit the market, it didn't get HECC certified. A real shame, because in today's "light, light, light" market mentality, this cage would be TOPS. It's all titanium, about 40% to 50% of the weight of a traditional steel cage. Grey titanium finish (like a Bauer TruVision). The only drawback is that it's the same shape as the Itech 907 cage, the rounded one.-Shoulders... Cooper SB90. From the 80s, the just-add-water variety. Virtually no padding, except for the exposed-plastic shoulder caps and some bicep protection. Otherwise, they're lightweight, very low-density foam.-Elbows... Vic Gold 105. Again, ancient by today's standards. Light, fairly small, traditional donut-style elbow with small slashguards. They're falling apart though, likely to be replaced by Sherwood 5030s or CCM 852s.-Gloves... Winnwell BDP. They weren't on the market for a year before Winnwell went tits-up. A shame, because these gloves are awesome. Eagle-like mobility, wide open cuff, good nash palm, higher density foam, and plastic inserts.-Pants... Hespeler Pro Lite. Great pants, solid protection with good mobility. High denier nylon, not going to rip and fray so easily. Thigh zippers are a big plus.-Shins... Itech Techlite 855. 1999 model. Anatomic design, CoolMax liner, good calf wraparounds. I cut off the straps and I use Itech's "ITape" neoprene shin straps. They're GREAT. Hold the pads perfectly in place.-Skates... Flite Summit. An older model, circa 1996. They're close to the old Bauer 3000s in quality. They've held up pretty well, but I missed 2 years with injuries and used a pair of pro CCM 952s for a couple years, and I'm not all that hard on my skates. The Flites have been a pleasant surprise, I had to order them when Bauer was out of stock in EVERY SKATE in my size back in '96. I mounted Tuuks on them and have had very few problems, other than having to stretch the length and width a couple times.-Undergarments... either a Protex PTX or Augusta Sportswear CoolMax t-shirt and an Itech Jock Pro (the maroon one). Moisture-wicking tees are nice, I do notice a difference during and after the game. The jocks are nice too, they've always worked well for me and I like the Pro model with the sewn-in brief.-Shafts... I currently have 4. An Innovative 1100 tapered, formerly a Larionov OPS; a Mission Flyweight Ether tapered; a Louisville TriCore (non-pro radius); and an Easton Z-Bubble, green, original year model. The Bubble is my oldest shaft, and has been good to me. Like I said, it's from the first year (1997?) and has held up like a champ, but I'm not too tough on my sticks either. The TriCore is a TANK, I heard NCAA guys weren't breaking them when they first came out, and it's got great feel for a shaft. The Flyweight and the Inno are both great shafts too, I like the tapered effect and both have good feel and balance. The Inno has the slight grip on it, which I like.-Blades... various wood, straight heel curves with open toes. Closest retail patterns are old Easton Thornton and old Louisville Antropov. I've also come across a bunch of pro blades that I like too. Gotta be wood though.
