Glove: which one would you choose?

Recommended Posts

Long time I have been using my Bauer Supremes and now is time for a change as glove are going slowly tear and wear. I want to buy a new pair and I would like to ask if you could help me to decide. I went throught gloves I can buy and I end up with two options: Bauer SDP Pro, which are quite old gloves or TPS R8 Lite. Which one would you prefer? Thank you.

The Bauers are a bit roomier and bigger, so it depends on the fit you like. I got the R8 Lite's and they are really nice.

Bauers. Although I've never worn either, I'm extremely biased.

If you don't know anything about the product, why in the hell would you post?

Idk, I'd go on fit for those particular models. If that was the R8 lite with FFH palm, there'd be no question but the newer TPS R8s have felt like they lowered the quality peg a few slots.

I agree about the FFH palm, but even downgrading to the nash, it's still a better glove. They do fit differently and that should be the most important factor.

I actually liked the digitech palm, great durability but the overall build quality of the glove puts it closer to the pricepoint it's being sold at(understandable why it's downspec-ed). They just don't appear to be the same glove that was just incredible off the shelf, I'd still have those if the fingers were about a 1/4" longer. Cable knit is awesome and the combo looks great too.

Fortunately the "real" R8 has a longer finger. I'm cutting back on the collection and that's one of my two pair that I actually use.

The longer fingers on the R8's are one of the things I need to break in as I'm used to my Vector Pros and the shorter fingers / tighter palm.

I noticed... I was kinda hoping the M-1s you sniped from Justin were going to be on that list. :(

Nope, one of the guys on my team is 6-4 and needed some new gloves. He is absolutely in love with them.

He asked which one we would choose. I would take the Bauers. And although I've never worn either in a game, I've certainly tried them on, and prefer the feel of the Bauer.

The Bauder SDP Pro is basically the same as the current 4-roll they are just older (and may be single finger depending on the specific glove). They are pretty durable and perform just about the same as current 4-rolls, they are just stiffer at first. I know my prostock SDP Pros (two-piece fingers) are even better than the more current retail 4-roll model I have.

You really can't go wrong. Those are both two of the better price to performance ratio gloves on the market.

You said "I've never worn either", now you say you have. Make up your mind.

I wear a pair of pro stock TPS R8’s and they’re great (I don’t know if you get plastic inserts in the normal ones?), I’ve tried on Bauer 4 Rolls and they’re just as good, they’re pretty similar. Either way you’re getting a good glove, I’d just go on price.

Sorry, I guess I should've specified. I've never worn either in game or on the ice. Was being too general in my first post.

ive tried both on but never played with either,

my initial impressions were...

bauer: very roomy on the inside. more so than the newer 4 rolls

tps: comfy but a the fingers were too wide for my hands. felt like a baseball glove.

I forget the exact model name of my R8s but they have the nylon backrolls and FFH palm and I love them, would definitely recommend them at the $80 I paid for them.
