New Reebok Stick Line

Recommended Posts

got a chance to see the 8k shaft today. Really impressed, both by the price ($100 CAD) and by the looks and feel. All the other tapered shafts were more expensive.

I say good job to reebok on coming out with a competitive product that wont (relatively) break the bank.

Thanks. We made a conscious effort to offer hockey players elite performance at the right price in 2009. The line really breaks down as follows:

10k: Reebok's best and lightest premium stick ever for super elite players

8K: Elite performance and ultra-light weight at a great price

6k: Light weight stick for elite and intermediate players

5k: Performance and durability for less

4k: Good & durable OPS for recreational players

I have a question, whats the 8k shaft? If there is no 10k shaft, that makes the 8k the best. Is the 8k just a 2 piece version of the 10k? Also, is the 8k stick just a fused version of the 10k? I heard that from a few people, but since we have a reebok guy on the board.

I was under the impression that there was a europe only 10K shaft.

I saw a 10K at the local Play it Again today. Really light, with pretty good balance. I noticed that when you cut it down 2", it only changes the flex by about 3. That's a bit less than other sticks, which I thought was interesting. Held the new 8K too, but I'm not a grip guy, so I didn't like that one.

To anybody that's used a retail one, how's the puck feel on it? Specifically wondering how it compares to the One95? That was my favorite part of the One95's I've tried out.

Wow that is pretty interesting! How would they reduce adding flex by that much?

I thought every 2 inches = 6 flex or something similar?

Yeah, my 8k shaft is the same. I bought an 85 without looking because it was really long and i was planning to cut quite a bit off, its a 87 or something like that now. I used a 10k on the ice and i didnt like the blade a whole lot, the shaft was awesome though. The blade was very stiff however which was good, but it kinda had a funny feel to it? Hard to explain. I really like the weightless feel of the 8k/10k. With a mission pro stock blade in my 8k it feels as light as my synergy se.

They control where most of the flex is with the taper. If it's not flexing much at the top anyway, cutting part that's not flexing isn't going to affect it as much.

whats the toe curve good for?

Playing hockey :D

Regarding toe curves, the one I really fell in love with is the Warrior Havlat pro-stock curve. He's now using a Reebok twig, but if it's like his old curve it's the best of both worlds.

It starts out as a mild heel curve then is curved even more right at the toe and is slightly open. Perfect for forehand/backhand shots and in those times of emergency where you have to roof the puck or clear it over everyone's head - it does it with ease.

The problem selling these would be the WTF factor when it's sitting on a LHS floor, but once people try it they'll be a believer. I finally hunted a few more down and will be shipping one off to have the curve/lie matched by Christian.

I can't stress enough how f'n weird it looks or how well it performs.

Dunno if you're looking for more havlats but the sports exchange in vancouver have a bunch of his dolos for cheap

That's the way a tapered stick should react to cutting.

A string of bad luck saw me break both my dolomite and xxx-lite this weekend during the same league game. After reading this thread and doing a little research I went out and bought the Reebok 8k shaft after work.

Got it in a mid flex and paired it up with a prostock dolomite blade I had lying around (toe curve btw =P). Blade went in seemlessly and matches up perfectly to the shaft

I am not a tall player, hence the need for a mid flex, and I lopped the stick down to about 54" (right below the 81 flex mark)

With stick tape on I must admit that this stick is lighter than my 2008 TPS R8-lite (listed at 435g before I cut it). So far very impressed with the price I paid ($100 cdn) and how balanced everything feels. Going to play 2 league games tonight, will post a bit about the puck feel, shot, etc afterwards.

BTW picked up a CCM U+ CL while at the store........holy ! CL for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, its crazy light. Love the feel, i can only imagine the 10k is crazy light as well, i picked up about 20 sticks though so id probably have to break a few before my parents would even let me buy new ones with my own money, id prob get a hell of a lecture.

I picked up a 10k 87flex. I cut it down to a 90 flex. I've only used it twice but I really like it. Very light, very responsive, great feel. Very nice stick.

Anyone with the 8k shaft care to comment on the flex? Is it a whippy 75?

I bought a 7k shaft (cut from the one piece) 75 flex and it's got the PERFECT flex to it. I'm thinking about cleaning out my extra sticks and picking up an 8k 75 flex to pair with a Dolo HD blade.

mmm...the 8k is my first 75 flex, it wasn't as whippy as i thought it would be (75 in general) but i think it plays perfectly to whats it rated (as with most rbk sticks), i feel it flex a lil when it shoots (more so than the 85, which is perfect) but then again i'm not THAT strong at around 155~lbs

Did you get a chance to compare it to the 75 flex sticks on the wall? Just trying to see if the shaft is any different than the OPS. The 7k is perfect for me, hopefully the 8k is even better!

i have a 75 mission titanium (i don't use it, in the stick collection as missions "last" stick), the 8ks a little easier to flex, i don't tend to flex sticks in the store if i'm not buying it :)

Good to know, I have a 65 flex Mission Fuel Pyro that's stiffer than any of my 75 flexers...those guys were stiff.

The 10k weighs approximately 425g-430g depending on the curve while the 8k weighs 450g-455g. The 10k has Pure Fiber Technology (True OPS) for maximum energy transfer and a higher density of carbon for more precision & control. Both are ultra-premium sticks designed for elite level players but the 10k gives you that extra edge in performance.

so the 10k is a true ops?

No. I posted a few pages back that the blade broke on my 1st 10k a few months ago, so I cut the stick at the obvious fuse point , popped out the tenon, and threw in a Se16 blade and called it a day. Even so, it is still my favorite shooting stick I've ever used (including the XN10's and R8 Lite whips).

Weird, the post above your's would seem to disagree.

That is because he works for them. Take that for what you will, but I've done it now on two of my personal sticks, and if you look closely at a 10k for yourself, you can see the connection point.

from what i remember...some video, its a 2 piece then they put more carbon or whatever material over it so technically its a one piece
