Help out Mike Green?!?!

Recommended Posts

I don't know if it's in the right section, but it's regarding equipment and pro player so I thought it was interesting:

Green, though, released a bit of news Monday that may be telling of his struggles. He wracked up 73 points during the regular season while using an Easton Stealth as his stick. They were soft and ultra light, but Green said Easton discontinued the model "a while ago" and he broke the last of the 15 he had left early in Game 1 of this series.

"It's a crappy time for that to happen," Green said with a smile when talking about Easton discontinuing the model. He has since changed to Easton's S17 model, which is a thicker and heavier stick, and Green admitted he has had trouble getting used to it. His stickhandling, which has been a cause for concern in this series, has been affected by the change in equipment.

"I felt like I was stickhandling for the first time again," Green said. "It's not the same feel at all. Now I feel good with it."

Ironically, there is still one of his Green's Stealths lying around. It's the one he used to set the NHL record for consecutive games with a goal by a defensemen this season, but the stick is supposed to be on its way to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

Should there be a Game 7 Wednesday night, a Caps PR person said they could get it back to Green, whose eyes lit up when he heard that. The Hall wouldn't be thrilled, but Green would be reunited with an old friend, perhaps just in time, too.

Anyone have stealth's lying around (I actually have a pro-stock lying around lol!) how much do you think Green's willing to pay you for it???

The CNT always felt thicker to me with the corners it had. Unless Green was using an original Stealth, with the CNT paint job, and is now using a CNT with the s17 paint job. Anyone care to clarify?

Anyone with a Stealth lying around should send it to Green in exchange for getting MSH's name on the Cup if they win.

Yeah, it's the stick that's making him a non-factor this series. Go see the Wizard and ask for clutch, Scarecrow.

hmm reminds me of Jagr

I think CNTs are like XN10s in that the materials were more expensive/higher quality? than most sticks so even if you opened up the old molds and mandrels you still dont end up with the same result.

*the above statement was pulled out of my ass.

It would be nice if manufacturers would actually stick with good technology instead of rushing to replace it just because it was time to refresh the line. I'm all for progress, but let's just make sure it's actually a step forward and not new for the sake of new.

From the days he was feared....

This scenario intrigues me.... so who is going to be the third and who is leading the charge (a la Dorothy)?

He's in line behind Sundin and his quest for young legs.

If Mike Green was smart he would've gotten his post count up before the beginning of the year and posted his request in the Want to Buy Section here, could've probably had some luck.

The broadcasters said the other day that he was using a 110 flex because that's all he had left. He normally used an 85 flex.

Also, they say he started the season with 15 sticks!

That's so funny, I had 6 of Green's sticks that I bought off the Easton pro rep a few yrs ago. Sold all of them. If I would have only known, I would have held on to them till the Caps play the B's in the Conference Finals this year... I'd be rich. Not selling them to Green, rather hush money from the B's! :-)

I could see it getting inside his head...but jeez if you can't find a stick now that works for you, your career is doomed.

He should have transitioned at some point before now.

Wasnt there some one a few years ago (Aaron Ward I think) that was using 120 flex uls at the time, ran out and had someone check around at LHS' to try to find some for him? Think Green will be sending someone around to do the same?

I can very much see defensive and frustration manner of this comment made by him because come on... you haven't been using stealth's all your life... you've used wooden sticks coming up from the minors i'm sure and now a $300 stick (S17) makes you feel like you're stickhandling for the first time again???? come on, you've gotta be a better transistioning young player like you should be Mike...
