tonguesOUT4life 17 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 i hyperventilate when people try flexing my twigs i had an r10 whip flex snap in half because this 200 pound dummy decided to put his weight on it.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 I dont think there is anything wrong with them trying out the flex with a shot or two, but putting someones full weight on it is just plain dumb. You dont do that in the LHS, so why would you try that out with a friend's stick?Did the guy buy you a new one?

I lent a guy my stick once at pick up and he snaped it. Though i would never see him again but he did end up bringing me a new one

durke 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 He owes you a new stick, plain and simple! As for me I've asked to try others sticks to get an idea of how I like it, but I would never over flex it or take slappers with it.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 He owes you one! At least cover most of the costs for you, since you already recieved some sort of 'value' from it.If i were to borrow a stick to shoot, it would be for wristers only just to test the flex... no slap or snap shots... and especially no bending it with all your weight on it. If the guy I borrowed the stick from would ask me to test the flex, i would actually put it across my knee, and use my arms to flex it. That way you dont put all your weight on it. yrhmblnr8r 69 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 You got hosed. How could anyone justify *not* replacing a stick that he broke screwing around?Worst case: It was an old clunker and you didn't care that it broke. Even then, he owes you a beer.

vek 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 To be honest, that stuff doesn't really bother me that much. Maybe its because I know my game won't be any better with a $200 dollar twig, so I don't hyperventilate if someone grabs my cheapo OPS for a quick checkover. shotty 7 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 i dont mind people flexing or whatever... what pisses me off is when you lend one during a game or whatev, and they smash it after a bad goal or giveaway etc.it's happened twice... wont lend because of it.
1stLiner91 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I hate it so much now, I won't even let anyone touch my SE16s at practice because someone wanted to "see" my Kronik when they first came out and flexed it so much that it snapped... 42 days after I bought it
Leafsrule16 5 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Awhile ago, probably my last year of peewee? I had a vapor xx stick i was real proud of, some other kid was flexing it and snapped it in 2 (flexing it the wrong hand as well) .. his father bought me a new one but ever since then ive been a bit touchy, especially now that i pay for most of my stuff its just too hard for me to try and pay for something some idiot broke. If someone picks up my stick to look at the curve or feel the weight i dont mind but when you have some idiot seeing how far it will bend, thats defiantly a piss off. I dont know how anyone could break somebodys stick and not pay, i snapped a guys cheap road hockey woody in road hockey and even then i just went and bought the same stick for like $12.99, its a respect thing. Taliondragon 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I'm fearful every time somebody picks up my stick since it's a junior. All they want to see is how much they can bend it.
Ahriman 1 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 That thing that you do not own. Don't touch it. Seriously I can't even get my head around the idea that someone would pick up a stick they didn't own without it being the most dire of circumstances (broke every stick they brought with them) and then gave some kind assurance of compensation BEFORE anything bad happens to it. jrhky36 1 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 i'm guilty of doing just this thing. when it snapped in half i felt terrible. so i offered to buy the guy a new stick. didn't have the cash on me at the time but got his info and sent him a check so he could buy what he wanted. ever since i try not to pick up another guys stick unless i need to move it or give it to him. i have become touchy about this ever since. I don't want to be petty and bitch at him about it, but it does get on my nerves.I haven't had the privilege of meeting someone as stupid and disrespectful like the OP described though. If someone ever did that to me and did not offer to replace it... well let's just say the end of that broken OPS is pretty damn sharp.

REALLY??? do you shoot like that during a game??? REALLY??? "LOL!
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I don't understand leaning into a stick to flex-test it. I will flex test sticks to see where the flex point is or the true flex of it but all that requires is a little bit of pressure to see how much it takes to get the stick to begin to flex. If you're flexing it more than an inch, you're flexing it too much. It takes minimal pressure to see how much it takes to get the stick to begin flexing and it only takes a tap of light pressure with your hands... not your arms, not your body, your hands. Even at that point, do it sparingly and preferably on sticks you own. A friend of mine gave my R2XN10 a flex test and I took it away from him pretty quickly. I don't think he realized that was pretty much like grinding gears in someone's Ferrari 250GT California.
