beerleaguecaptain 999 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 My team is looking to buy a second set of jerseys. Right now we have custom made jerseys from a company called ToughJersey in Minnesota. I really like them but the other two captains want to get Buffalo Sabres blue home jerseys and they don't make them. The only companies that make a Buffalo jersey are SP, Athletic Knit (AK) and RBK. I don't paticularly like the material in AK and RBK but I haven't worn an SP. What's you opinion?
mickz 107 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 What type of numbers are you planning on getting? On the previous team I played on we got the 1 color name and 2 or 3 color heat sealed numbers from AK and they were horrible. I sold my jersey to a guy who was joining this year and he cleanly peeled my name off. If I really wanted to I could've done the same to the back numbers. The actual jersey quality was pretty good. We got the Pro Series WOR658C jerseys and loved them. The silver durasheen-like material didn't pile up like on some of my Canucks jerseys.
mickz 107 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 They were heat sealed vinyl numbers. I've only washed the jersey twice when I owned it; once getting all the blood out after taking a cheap shot to the face and right before selling it. I never use fabric softener, bleach or anything other than water and detergent. The numbers felt easy to rip off the first day I got it.edit: Only played 12-16 games in it if that matters. fieldofdreams 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 That's why on any team I play on, we either get tackle twill sewn numbers, or a sublimated jersey. It's too easy to have the vinyl numbers peel or rip off. It's more money, but it looks much better, and lasts.
beerleaguecaptain 999 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Our numbers are twill. I am really interested in the jersey quality - not the numbers.Has anyone used SP?
forbs02 20 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 SP makes a great jersey. They make all the Nike jerseys for NCAA teams. They can be pretty heavy duty but they last forever.
number18 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 what were some problems that you guys encountered with the rbk jerseys? my team just ordered them
shoeshine boy 242 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 my team wears the classic CCM jersey with tackle twill numbers. if we couldn't get CCMs we'd be going with SP.I think the AKs are sized weirdly and their socks rip up WAY too quickly.
johnson_13 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 my team ordered the rbk edge uncrested jerseys and have had no problems with them or the heat transfer numbering....but what are the problems u guys are having?
beerleaguecaptain 999 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I just felt tat the RBK is such a flimsy material that it might not hold up. I also dont like that they are cut narrow. We got some BIG guys here!!
clthockey22 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 my beer leg. team rocks SP jerseys. CTHockey 2 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I think what its going to come down to for you is price. You can go with a pro weight SP or AK jersey with tackle twill numbers and a sewn crest and that jersey will last forever but it will cost you $100 and above. If you go with a CCM Replica or RBK edge jersey which will still hold up pretty good but not as good as the AK or SP pro jersey, those will cost you close to half as much as the AK or SP. If i were you i'd check out a company in RI called Hilco Athletic they do all sorts of tackle twill stuff. I just got a 4 color NHL team crest done for $8 a crest and that included being sewn on the jersey!!!!
gerbe3:16 19 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 SP makes a great jersey. They make all the Nike jerseys for NCAA teams. They can be pretty heavy duty but they last forever. Are you sure about that? Or is this a new thing? Because I've got a Nike gamer from about 2005 that was not made by SP (at least it's tagged Nike).I'm actually curious about some of the new rbk jerseys as well. I think the 25P00 jerseys (NHL colors) look pretty sharp and seem to be better than the 15P00 platinum jerseys. Anyone have any comment on the 25P00s? SirJW 207 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 One of the teams I play on has AK Semi-Pro weight jerseys and they are great, good quality but yes they run a bit big so get a size down. We've had them for three or four years, about a hundred games and most are still in great shape. My opinion is no names on back so you can re-sell them as players come and go, much easier than re-ordering new ones every season.
Warriorsdman 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I played in SP jerseys last season, and they are a pretty heavy duty jersey. They also come in number sizes (ex: 48, 52, etc) rather than just S, M, L. The model we had even had a fight strap. In U16 hockey this isnt really a necessity but it was cool anyway.

They actually don't say SP on them anywhere. Nike contracts their hockey jerseys out to SP. When you receive them they are shipped from SP's factory, and that's who I call if I ever need to get extra twill numbers or nameplates.

starsfan71 9 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 My high school Jv team uses AK jerseys that are kind of like the edge in a sence. I only used them for 2 games because I got moved up to Varsity but looking at the Jersey right now and I must say the numbers look so crappy. How ever the actually Jersey Part doesn't look too bad. beerleaguecaptain 999 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 I definately have decided not to use the knit fabrics that come stock with AK - gonna go custom and use pro mesh. Does anyone have a jersey by PX- Philly Express?? One vendor is reccomending them.
kr580 2 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Can someone help me figure out what size of AK 'Pro Series' jersey would be good for me?I'm looking to buy a few blank AK jerseys for myself, just to practice in and whatnot, but unfortunately don't have any to try on. For reference I have two jerseys currently, Reebok Gamewear Tampa Bay home jersey and a CCM 10100 practice jersey, both size Large. The Reebok is pretty good fit around the torso, maybe slightly long, sleeves are pretty long. The CCM is very slightly small around the torso it seems, sleeves are too short.Would anyone know what kind of AK size would compare to the RBK Gamewear Large? Should I just go by chest measurements on their sizing charts? Thanks - Kevin

shawbro 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Hey guys. I'm trying to get some advice here. I recently bought the milwaukee admirals home, white jersey with the skull but had to return it becasue it was to small and they didn't have the size I needed. So the two jerseys that appeal to my liking are the syracuse crunch home and the san antonio rampage home jersey. I can't decide what one to go with. What are your thoughts? http://www.ahlstore.com/teams/milwaukee-admirals/reebok-milwaukee-admirals-premier-home-jersey-blank-or-customized.htmlhttp://www.ahlstore.com/teams/san-antonio-rampage/reebok-san-antonio-rampage-home-premier-jersey-blank-or-customized.htmlhttp://www.ahlstore.com/teams/syracuse-crunch/reebok-syracuse-crunch-premier-away-jersey-3.htmlThanks
