Dead hockey brands.

In the roller world -  Bilt-Rite...

I remember seeing Bilt-Rite gloves and pants back when RHI was in it's early stages...(well techincally there were no late stages... ). I also remember the advertisements in the old "Roller Hockey Magazine". Wow the roller hockey "coverage" back in the early-mid 90's makes the tears well up.

I think the largest tombstone in our hockey brand graveyard should go to Cooper. I sure hope the people who originally sold it got super rich as in my day they were the best. If you had a Cooper anything, it was good and you were cool.

when you guys eliminated the name I bought up so many pairs of work series gloves and pants.

I still have 3 pairs I've yet to use, they were all on clearance for about 40 bucks in weird colors.

still bust out my original red/white/black cut off cuff ones from a tournament team I was on back in 98-99 :D

I'm still using Cooper shoulder pads.

Mine are a little bulkier than that. In fact, they might be womens. That would explain the big W on the front. Either way, they're very comfortable.

As long as they have somewhere to put you man-breasts, you'll be fine. ;)

I still have a pair of Flak shoulder pads, and just sold Jay a Cooper girdle. MY buddy wears my old Cooper helmet. The helmet model he is wearing is what eventually became the Bauer 4000. Still a great lid, but the padding was coming loose. It is good enough for a beginner though. I used to wear nothing but Cooper and Koho back in the day. Koho is still around but they are a different company now.

Wally hockey sticks - I'm surprised no one has mentioned them.

They were as heavy as a tree trunk, and would last for a couple of seasons. You could hack, slash and crosscheck like nothin' with those logs! Thing is, you had to be strong as an ox just to pick it up.

Great thread. Brings back lots of memories.

I'm probably one of the older ones on here!

My father and grandfather were both hockey players as well, so I remeber all of their old stuff... sticks with no cruve at all, then huge banana curves, tube skates by HB Brown, shoulder pads that would only serve to keep you warm, gloves with wood in them for padding... quite an evolution.

In 20 or 30 years we'll be talking like this over a beer after an old-timers game -

"remember Easton - who bought them out? and CCM - whatever happened to them..."

And the scary part is that the answer may be Nike or Reebok....or maybe even.......Microsoft.

Microsoft hockey gear....yep that's when I'll hang up the skates for good. :P

When I get their goal equipment done, I'll take some pics.

So you're telling me I better squeeze in all my hockey playing now since my days are numbered, eh?

I'm just waiting for the Microsoft OPS with the graphics that say, "Intel Inside".

All kidding aside, I do believe Microsoft has a company-sponsored team. Greatly apologize for the off-topicness.

I think you're right Shorty. I remember playing at a rink up near their HQ and seeing Microsoft bags.

They skate at Kingsgate Arena, same place the Thunderbirds practice.

Speaking of dead hockey brands. Does anyone know where I can get any branches fusion OPS? They were amazingly light, and one of my favorite sticks. If anyone knows where I can find a RH fusion, let me know. Ive been looking everywhere forever.

WinnWell is owned by Canadian toy company milton badley. They still own the name and have sold the baseball part of WinnWell to Itech.

Daoust hockey skates are STILL being made! Yes they are still being made but under a new name. FLITE hockey bought the rights to the Daoust last and still use the same plant were Daoust skates were made for many many years in QC.

They have a different look then the orginal Daoust skates but the fit and feel are all Daoust.

You can see the Flite stuff here. But look at the Crow holders on these things. They look to be about two sizes too big. The other thing that is weird is it looks like the holder says Crew and not Crow when they are without a doubt Crow holders.

Daoust...I remember watching a Habs/Leafs game one year when after Daoust had closed its door and the commentators were saying how Yanic Perreault went around to every store in Montreal and bought out all their stock. He ended up with like 200 pairs or something crazy like that...THAT's loyalty.
