sitzlejd 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 My back is toasted and I'm worried that my shoulder pads are gonna hurt like hell rubbing against my skin tonight. Anyone experienced this? Tips?

Scoobersti 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 +1 on the aloe. Maybe go re-apply it in between periods maybe even half way through each period as well.
sickwilly 37 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 Aloe and maybe a really soft undershirt, too. If it's beer league, a couple of beers might help.
Ahriman 1 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 and meds too, take a little Advil/Tylenol cocktail while your at it. though, not the tylenol and beer at the same time, thats bad for you.
Sniper15 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I hear that this product called "sunscreen" works really well, you should try it out next time you're in the sun for awhile so this doesn't happen again.
Too Old 1 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 You may not believe this... but vinegar will ease the pain of a sunburn. Stinks but works wonders, trust me!
Guitarmy 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Just thinking about putting vinegar on a sunburn makes me cringe.
RecLeagueHero 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Yeah, putting something that's highly acidic on a burn just doesn't sound appealing. That's not to say it doesn't work for all I know, I just get a mental picture of putting something salty on open cuts.
sitzlejd 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I hear that this product called "sunscreen" works really well, you should try it out next time you're in the sun for awhile so this doesn't happen again.Helpful...On topic, it didn't really bother me during the game and I scored our only two goals. I really expected the rub of my shoulder pads to bother it but it didn't happen. That vineagar idea sounds interesting, hopefully I never have to try it. Archangel#16 1 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I know that there is this alow vera stuff with lidocaine in it. That feels amazing when you have bad sunburns
Too Old 1 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Trust me, it sounds absolutely wrong but it does work. I'm not one to usually get sunburned with a more olive-toned skin color (being Italian has it's benefits, lol) but a year ago I got roasted. The vinegar worked wonders. Either white or apple cider are fine to use. I could give a rat's ass about how it smelled giving how bad it hurt at the time, lol.
Clark12 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I played with sunburn last week, it wasn't too sore (altho I did wear a loose vest top under my shoulders). Be prepared for you skin to start peeling off afterwards though! sunburn + sweat don't mix too good.
All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 If nothing else take that bottled up pain you'll be getting from the sunburn and unleash it on your opponents, or maybe some goals. ha
cptjeff 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Best thing you can do is get something that will reduce the abrasion- meaning an undershirt. Get a compression undershirt that fits and won't move around and it'll keep your shoulder pads from rubbing. I always wear one and have played with sunburn before with no problems. phunky_monkey 6 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Go the undershirt. I play with sunburn in summer league and despite it being tender when the pads go on, once I'm out there it doesn't cross my mind.
lampliter87 8 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 That seems to be true for a lot of minor issues I have... I worry before the game, but once I'm on the ice, they just disappear.
