I think Chara will get the Norris, Julien will get the Adams

I think Ovechkin will repeat for Hart/Pearson, but that's a bias from being a caps fan (not that he doesn't deserve it, but I have him winning it every year)

Not sure on the Vezina, Thomas probably, and maybe Mason for the Calder

I'm pulling for Andy Murray to get the Adams. Look at what he did with what he had to deal with. (Kariya, Brewer, Oshie, McDonald missing significant time) the Leagace fiasco, and rising from last to make the playoffs.

Although I dont agree with his way of "motivating" young talent like he does with Perron and Berglund, he still is the clear cut choice for the JA imo

Hart-AO, of course

Vezina-Chris or Steve Mason, either one is deserving

Byng-Marty St.Louis

Masterton-Steve Sullivan. (Because I also have a herniated disc and I understand what he went through)

Calder-Kris Versteeg

Selke-Pavel Datsyuk

Norris-Mike Green

Pearson-Evgeni Malkin

Norris - Green (the writers love offensive defencemen, and he *did* set a record and score 30)... I think Chara's getting robbed yet again...

Selke - Datsyuk (naturally)

Byng - St. Louis (just edging Datsyuk)

Calder - Mason (he put that team in the playoffs on top of a case of mono - that's insane)

Masterton - should be Sullivan, and REALLY should have been Numminen, and it will probably go to Zednik

Hart - I'd love to see Malkin win, but I'd bet the farm on Ovechkin

When did the voting take place? I can see a case for Chara during the regular season, but he had a pretty brutal playoffs. 4 points and a -1 to Lidstrom's 16 points and a +11. And Lidstrom was playing with a significant injury for a series and a half. Chara is a top D-man in the league, but I still think there is a substantial gulf between Lidstrom and him. Their respective playoff performances would appear to bear that out quite vividly.

These sorts of broadcasts have a cheesy element to them, but I just love watching them because they showcase the players as people. I love their unpolished speeches. What a bunch of good, classy guys. If nothing else, these awards events remind us that hockey players, by and large, are real class guys.

Beliveau's speech was great, too. Thomas was so obviously touched to get the Vezina ("I was just hoping for a roster spot") and was it Datsyuk who said he was accepting the Selke for kids with dreams of playing? So many peaks through the keyhole into who these guys really are. How can you not be a fan?

I would like to congratulate Steve Sullivan first and foremost. I know what he went through because I am going through it now and he serves as a great inspiration to myself and anyone that you can overcome anything.
