Stealth weight

on the topic of flexes, i am 15 and around 5'6-5'7 and i use a prostock inno travis green and i have no problems with it (i can load up the stick on a slapshot). i don't think having a specific flex for an age group/height/weight is right because it depends on technique

for example, i know a guy who's smaller than me and he was using a cut down tri flex with "pro flex" (112).

Lord knows all the 5-4 14 year olds need a 100 flex stealth. It's going to make their shot so much better.

well chadd look i'm 14yr 6feet 1 and 180 pound....i think i can use 100 flex...

but oh well i know it not every 14yrs old kid that has my shape....when you have the skill to handle 1piece with that flex ...why don't use it??

Please note, I said 5-4 14 year old so it obviously wasn't aimed at you. That said, I find it interesting that so many 13-14 year olds, regardless of height, think they have the same strenth as an NHL player and should use the same flex.

In any case, it's all preference, use whatever you like. It doesn't matter to me.

You are so right Chadd, my friend got his Stealth, cut it down yesterday and he claims that his shot is much better, but when watching him he was better off with his Intermediate Si-core. Also the kid is 13 and roughtly 5-6 weighing in at a whopping 130. But he thinks he has a better shot. It shows that most things about a new stick is mental.

One of my better friends is 35, about 5-7 and just switched to using an intermediate stick and his shot speed damn near doubled when compared to using a 110 griplite. I'd be willing to bet he has more strength and no worse form than most of the kids I see with a 40 inch si-core.

I wish others would do that. They think that since the stick is an intermediate that it makes them a wimp/pussy. But there is one kid on my old team who couldnt shoot for the life of him with a 110 flex, nad if he used a lighter flex he would be amazing. I am happy that TPS makes a whip due to peoples size and weight. THe only thing I dont like about most intermediates is that the shaft shape and size. I would pick an intermediate Si-core up but its so damn small.(Shaft wise)

You're quite small for a 14-year old :). I got about 10inches on you, and i do use 100+ flex sticks, without a problem.

Nothing I can do about it in all in the genes....tallest person ever in my entire line of family members was like 6-2...... <_< not fair lol Hopefully I get a huge growth spurt....Id be happy with 6' lol

lol im asian in 14, im just over 5'7" and 130lbs, and im like by far the smallest defenceman on my team....life is not fair for chinese kids haha. i use 85-100 flex sticks, but when i use 100 flex my slapshots seem to flutter more, cause it feels like the shaft wont give. Ill stick to my 260flex (90ish) true1, it works wonders shooting for me.

I had no idea there was this many Asians on this Board. Damn. B)

But as for the weight of the stick, when my friend cut his down it felt like it was about 400 grams still. I will weight it once the hurricane passes.

trust me, there are some short kids that are quite strong and use 100 flexes usually. i'm only 5'5" 130 @ 14 and I use a 75-85. When I used a 100 flex Stealth, it wasn't a problem either.

might be personal pref...but I find that 100 flex is as stiff as a 2 x 4. I don't think my wrist shot technique is correct though, since I can't seem to make the stick flex as much as Iglina does when he wrists it. Wood sticks have helped that, but I still can't get it to flex more that like an inch or two. Looks like I might have to start another topic  .

Have you ever filmed yourself taking a shot? I think you'd be surprised. I remember watching me play when I was around 12 and I was using those old Bauers which were white with the black blade. I thought it was a brick while I was using it, but on the video it showed alot of whip in the shaft.

I'm sure you could, I liked the tape because I could slow it down and watch it in slow motion. Don't forget how quick everything will be moving so sometimes its a little difficult to pick up your stick flexing when your concentrating on all the other things around you.

WTF!  I just cutt my butt-end and it is hollow.  Am I the only idiot who thought this was a solid graphite butt-end?  Why the hell didn't Easton just extend the length of the shaft 3 inches and put a cap in it.  Now I have a wind tunnel hole at the end of my stick.  Mother f'er...

Yeah Modo, I wasn't sure if the end cap would be solid or hollow so I was somewhat "suprised" as you when I cut my Stealth end cap a couple days ago. This is my only stick with a wind tunnel. But I guess I could always toss an Inno plastic cap thingy in there if I want. I may possibly have an extra one sitting around in my junk drawer if you want one. Either way, it's a nicely balanced stick and it's just a matter of time to test the durability. Playing inline hockey, you can really feel that lightweight puck with this stick.

Damn, and I usually write my jersey number on my end caps. Now what do I do?!?

Thanks dude, but I tried sticking the butt-end from my Novius Mogilny pro in there and apparently the graphite butt-end is slighltly concave, just like the shaft. I tried jamming and hitting it but it just doesn't fit. I am gonna have to put a wood butt-end in there. I hated my Vapor xx with the cap and when I put a wooden butt-end in the stick felt so much more solid. Something about needing some element of wood somewhere in the stick... if yah know what I mean...

Ryan answered this already in a different thread. Some guy at easton came up with the great idea (not being sarcastic here) of using the extra graphite/aramid material that they had left to make those composite endplugs. It adds a cool feature to their flagship stick at a very low cost.

I remember the exact thread and post. Ryan said nothing of it being hollow.

I'm 5-4 110 and I'm 14 and I find tehre's no use for a 100 flex, I like the Jr. and Int. sticks, now I'm using an M-1 50 flex and intermediate synergy and i love my shot with both sticks, so I feel there's no need to buy the Stealth until price goes waayyyy down, becuase I would make teh mistake of payin 300 buckaroos and I wouldn't like it or something

Just my 2 cents.........

I was responding to your "why the hell didn't Easton just extend the length of the shaft 3 inches" comment.
