Pro stock skates too far forward pitched

Recommended Posts

I recently bought pro stock bauer s9's. I like everything about them but the pitch. They have a plastic sole which is different than most s9's, but I've seen a few before

It feels like my feet are sliding towards the toe when I'm skating.

I'm using supreme 70's with the ls power holders and steel.

Have any ideas on how to fix it?

Would an ls2.1 blade make it feel better, maybe I just don't like the rocker. I can turn really well in them if that means anything. It just feels like I skate slower and it makes it 100 times harder to skate

The boot fits perfect, other that one little spot that I need to punch out. My toes barely touch the toe cap

It just feels like it's sliding

But like the ls2 powers I have on my supreme 70's, It was actually too leaned back for me so I added a smaller heel lift, a little less than 1/8"

I just drilled a hole in the boot and took the steel out, looks the same as my brand new extra steel

Maybe I should just try the ls2.1, it' 50 bucks for 2. I'll go to a pro shop and see if they will trade my new ls2 for ls2.1's

Instead of buying new steel, why not just have the steel on the skates radiused to take the pitch off. If pro stock, it is likely they were radiused by the equipment manager for the player, or by a pro shop somewhere. When the Easton Pro rep lived near me, he use to bring skates for me to sharpen/radius before running out to the practice rink for the player to try them out. In a lot of cases I would put pitch on the steel.. It's possible this was done to your skates. A simple radius can take it off.

Exactly, have the blade's radius changed. You can ask them to put a neutral contour on the blade and you'll sit more flat on the blade without a forward lean. Ask the technician at your local hockey shop.

although i think the same as the last three with the blade pith being changed he said he put it next to standard steel and it was eexactly the same...maybe the boot is just pretty forward pitched or the steel is actually not the same as standard steel and by putting in the new set they will feel normal

It may have been just that I didn't like the profile

I'll see the ls2.1 powers will be the same exact thing as I had before

I'm not sure I would want anyone at my LHS doing anything like this

EDIT: And when I drilled holes to take out the blades it didn't look like the back was raised more

Along the same lines, I recently switched from a stock retail skate with Lightspeed Pro holders to a pro stock skate with Tuuk Custom Plus'; could anyone shed some light as to the differences between the two Holders and differences in in the blade profile that would allow me to get closer to the feel of the Lightspeeds? I never had a problem really when skating before, but now on my new skates with the Custom + holders I find myself digging my toes when I go to explode on my first couple of strides which is hampering my game and speed. Any advice to help alleviate this would be very helpful as I don't think I'm getting the maximum potential out of my new skates right now.
