st louis has a old yellow synergy tonight. The Rangers didnt show up for the game though.

I second this, and Its wierd for Johnson to try the anatomical One95. Since he's a more defensive player, shouldn't a larger glove like the Warrior franchise/4Rolls be more appropriate...and safe?

just because it fits different doesn't mean its less protective

(I agree that the 4 roll style glove is more protective) NHLers aren't exactly know for doing what is best for them safety wise. If they were we'd see Cages.

except cages are prohibited in the playing rules, with exception provided to those with doctors orders stating that the player needs full facial protection.

Rule 9.6

"A mask or protector of a design approved by the League may be

worn by a player who has sustained a facial injury.

In the first instance, the injured player shall be entitled to wear any

protective device prescribed by the Club doctor. If any opposing Club

objects to the device, it may record its objection with the

Commissioner."

I was exaggerating for effect...

Just got back from the Cornell / BU game @ MSG and noticed most every player was in Nike pants w/ the swoosh, do they have an abundance of pants or do the players have to wear hand me downs? Both teams have Bauer branded jerseys and socks this season (a few BU players had the Nike swoosh sock).

Not sure about men's teams, but the women's team here at clarkson gets new protective gear every two years- the pants are probably just holdovers. I'll see if I get a chance to ask the equipment manager. Probably not, this week is going to be rather busy.

As for jerseys and socks, Bauer really needs to get a new logo just for those. I can hardly read the logo a few rows back.

Matt Duchene with the new 11k Reebok.

Sorry if it's been mentioned already. I know he has the skates for a while, but he couldn't use them. Yesterday was the first time I saw him using the skates in a game.

Pretty sure this is separate from the Nike-to-Bauer changeover. This is more like Team USA, etc., wearing Nike jerseys at the Olympics in that while equipment does not carry the Nike brand anymore, any "apparel" still has the swoosh. Hockey pants are considered part of the apparel in a sense because theoretically the player could wear any pants and throw on a shell with the swoosh on the leg. If players and/or schools want to give their players actual hockey pants, they'd have to carry the swoosh to comply with their "apparel" deals.

hes used those synergy grips since they came out. Hasnt gone back since

He's had the new graphics package on his for some time now. TBLFan has a few of his synergy's with no graphics on them whatsoever.

Yeah, after the MVP season he was using a XXXlite, then he went to a SL(non grip graphics) in warmups and the XXXlite in games... then he went to a graphic-less yellow ST. After that he went to the old graphics yellow synergy. Then last season, in camp he used a yellow one95. Later going to a new graphic ST at the beginning of the season, followed by a new graphic ST with a custom yellow graphics package. Two games ago he went back to the old graphics.

We don't obsess, he's just got interesting gear habits.

Note the single piece fingers and almost no cuff extension

mstl3.jpg

Equip. Mngr. takes in the gussets on the lower hand's first two fingers

mstl2.jpg

He also has the base of the palm and cuff taken way in on the lower hand. Thy leave the upper hand stock.

Easy, Tiger...........

You should see what he does to the end of his sticks. I think TBLFan has one- shaves them down like an oggy grip.

In other words, MSL has small hands.

well he is what? 5.8 or so?

He claims 5'7.5", NHL claims 5'9", what people who have met him usually claim is 5'5" or 5'6".

As a guy of similar stature, I try to keep track of the really great short guys in the league. Gionta, Gerbe (listed at 5'6- insanely short), St Louis, Samsonov... Some quality guys.

My bet's on 13" for the gloves though. And if St. Louis wants to mail me a pair....
