Spray painting sticks

Recommended Posts

I used white tape and painted the bottom third of a shaft and the blade white to mess with a friend of mine who plays goal.

He hated it.

YMMV

I spray the bottom 1/3 - 1/2 because i hate how gaudy sticks have become these days. The old naked carbon Vapor XX was (imo) the best looking stick ever, and I just got used to that look I guess.

To those who say it hides the puck, pleeeeaaaaase.

get a 10k and that will solve your problems

also one of my coaches that used to play in the uhaul (uhl) said that he sprayed the bottom of the stick black during the regular season and then when playoffs came he sprayed them white because of some superstition

I have two 10k's, both sprayed. But I agree, they are by far the best looking stick (Imo) in a long time.

I just spray painted the bottom third of my stick white and used white tape,

Then I also painted the inside of my cage white like these cages

I'll see how it works tomorrow, mainly I'm trying it to help my peripheral vision

Do you guys do a light sand job when spraying wood blades?

I tried to spray a compo blade and it was running so im just curious if im going to encounter the same problem with the wood because of the the fiberglass coat.

Just apply thin coats or get a different paint.

I did notice a bit of a difference when I painted my stick though. I didn't have a chance to warm up because I was late it felt really odd. I think I like it now though.

I was just wondering would spray painting the blade of the stick make the bade feel worse?

Not at all, I spray all my replacement blades matte black to match my One95 shafts, don't notice the paint on there at all.

I gave it a go because the colours on my stick were doing my head in a little, that's all. Thinks it looks pretty slick all in black, too.

I paint my bottoms matte black for looks only. If it has some effect that I'm unaware of then awesome. I'm using 2piece Warrior DD set ups right now so I paint the bottom to make the stick flow better.

Yeah, this is why I do it, too. I'm using an AK27 shaft and One95 blade combo. The silver graphics on the blade end of the AK27 come to an abrupt end and the end of the shaft and it looks weird and distracting to my eye, so I just painted that area (bottom 1/4) matte black.

Spray painting twigs black is a topic that it near and dear to my heart, I though I should share my thoughts on it.

I have been spray painting my twigs for 15 years plus. I'll buy a new stick and try to not paint it but I always go back to painting it. Its purely pychosomatic in that I feel like I can handle the puck better with it. I got the idea from watching the OHL in the mid 90's a fair amount of guys did it bacK then.

Over the years I have head nods for other guys on other teams that paint it black. Playing Jr C there was a guy that I absoutley hated and we would go at each other pretty good over the years. Anyway we ended up on the same Jr B team and our mutual love for painting sticks brought the beef to an end.

Where I paint my sticks in my shed I have deemed it the "Paint it Black Studio"
